Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium is a field hockey stadium at Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Named after M. Radhakrishna Pillai, it was the venue to the 1996 Men's Champions Trophy, and hosted the tournament again in December 2005. It was also the venue for 2007 edition of Asian Hockey Championship, in which India triumphed by a thumping margin of 7–2 over South Korea. The stadium is also the venue for all division matches of the Chennai Hockey Association and the home ground of the World Series Hockey team Chennai Cheetahs. [1]
The 1996 Men's Champions Trophy took place from 7–15 December 1996 in the newly built Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium in Madras (now Chennai), India. Participating nations in this post-Olympic tournament were: Australia, titleholders Germany, hosting nation India, Netherlands, Pakistan, and Spain.

M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, commonly known as the Chepauk Stadium, is a cricket stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Established in 1916, it is the second oldest cricket stadium in the country after Eden Gardens in Kolkata. It is owned and operated by Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA). The stadium is located at Chepauk, a few hundred meters from Marina beach along the Bay of Bengal.
Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu Tennis Stadium, commonly known as SDAT Stadium, sometimes also called Nungambakkam Tennis Stadium, is located in Nungambakkam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, and played host for the Chennai Open ATP Tennis championships held in the first week of January from 1996 to 2017. The stadium was built in 1995 by the Government of Tamil Nadu on the occasion of South Asian Federation Games held in Chennai that year. The stadium has been the venue for Indian Open tennis tournament annually since 1997. The stadium witnessed some dramatic scenes in 1998 when legends like Boris Becker and Patrick Rafter took part in the then named Goldflake Open. Rafter went on to win the tournament.
Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, also known as the Marina Arena, is a multi-purpose stadium in Chennai, India. It has a capacity of 40,000. It mostly hosts football matches and athletic competitions. The complex also houses an indoor stadium with a seating capacity of 5,000 which hosts volleyball, basketball, and table tennis games. The stadium is also used for functions and concerts. The stadium is named after Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister. It was known as the Corporation Stadium till the 1980s. Selvaraj Thirumal Valavan is a former field hockey midfielder from India, who made his international debut for the Men's National Team in February 1997 against Poland. Valavan represented his native country at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, where India finished in seventh place. He comes from a hockey family and is the nephew of Former International M.P.Murugesh. His father Selvaraj played for State Bank of India and brother Thirugnam currently plays for Madras Port Trust. Selvaraj Thirumala Valavan currently plays for Indian Bank Team, Tamil Nadu in the position of Centre-Half. For his outstanding contribution to the field of Hockey, he was conferred the award Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Sports Award in the year of 1999–2000. In the national level he has played the tournaments National Championship respectively in December 2000 held at Jammu, March 1999 held at Hyderabad where the team finished at the 2nd position, May 1997 held at Bangalore and finished at 2nd position. He also participated in the year December 2002 – Hyderabad, June 1997 – Bangalore. Selvaraj Thirumala Valavan also took part at the Muruguppa Gold Cup in the year July 1998 – Chennai.
