Sholinganallur taluk is a taluk of the district of Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It was created in 2009 by the trifurcation of Tambaram taluk in Chennai district. The centre of the taluk is the neighbourhood of Sholinganallur. The headquarters of is Guindy division. On 4 January 2018, Chennai district was expanded by annexing Sholinganallur taluk. [1]
According to the 2011 census, the taluk had a population of 548,654 with 276,828 males and 271,826 females. There were 982 women for every 1,000 men. The literacy rate was 81.23%. Child population in the age group below 6 was 28,905 males and 27,521 females. [2]
All of the above revenue villages are under Chennai city except for Madipakkam-B which is rural village under Kovilambakkam rural panchayat

Puzhuthivakkam is located between the neighborhoods of Madipakkam, Adambakkam, Velachery, Pallikaranai, and Nanganallur. Puzhuthivakkam was initially developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Upon completion of the MRTS extension line, the neighborhood will be served by Puzhuthivakkam railway station. As of 2011, the town had a population of 53,322.

Pallikaranai Marsh is a freshwater marsh in the city of Chennai, India. It is situated adjacent to the Bay of Bengal, about 20 kilometres (12 mi) south of the city centre, and has a geographical area of 80 square kilometres (31 sq mi). Pallikaranai marshland is the only surviving wetland ecosystem of the city and is among the few and last remaining natural wetlands of South India. It is one of the 94 identified wetlands under National Wetland Conservation and Management Programme (NWCMP) operationalised by the Government of India in 1985–86 and one of the three in the state of Tamil Nadu, the other two being Point Calimere and Kazhuveli. It is also one of the prioritised wetlands of Tamil Nadu. The topography of the marsh is such that it always retains some storage, thus forming an aquatic ecosystem. A project on 'Inland Wetlands of India' commissioned by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India had prioritised Pallikaranai marsh as one of the most significant wetlands of the country. The marsh contains several rare or endangered and threatened species and acts as a forage and breeding ground for thousands of migratory birds from various places within and outside the country. The number of bird species sighted in the wetland is significantly higher than the number at Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary.

It is a village panchayat located in Tambaram taluk, Chengalpattu district in the state of Tamil Nadu, about 26 km from Chennai city center and 12 km from Tambaram. The neighbourhood spans the areas of Sunnambu Kolathur, Chinna Kovilambakkam and Periya Kovilambakkam.

Pallavaram taluk is a taluk in Greater Chennai City, formed from the bifurcation of Alandur taluk in 2015. It also included some areas from Sriperumbudur Taluk. Its headquarters are in the town of Pallavaram near Pallavaram–Thuraipakkam Radial Road. It comes under Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA). It shares its boundaries with Alandur Taluk in Chennai District on the north, Kundrathur Taluk in Kanchipuram district on the west, Sholinganallur Taluk in Chennai District on the east.
