Tharamani is an area in the south Indian city of Chennai. It is known for the presence of the city's first IT parks and numerous government educational and research institutions. It is located adjacent to the posh residential area of Adyar and Besant Nagar in South Chennai. It is an Estate with Express IT Companies, making it a massive located neighbourhood in the IT Expressway.
Avadi is a western suburb of Chennai, and the headquarters of Avadi City Police, Avadi City Corporation and Avadi Taluk located within the Thiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu, India. Situated at about 22 kilometres (14 mi) from Chennai Central Railway Station, it is one of the four municipal corporations in the Chennai Metropolitan Area and is governed by the Avadi Municipal Corporation. It is surrounded by major defence establishments and is home to various universities and engineering colleges. The neighborhood is served by Avadi Railway Station of the Chennai Suburban Railway and just 7 km from the upcoming Karayanchavadi Metro of Chennai Metro Rail. As of 2011, Avadi had a population of 345,996, which is 10th most populous place in Tamil Nadu. It is home to the Heavy Vehicles Factory (HVF), Ordnance Factory Board (ODF) which houses Engine Factory and Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE). The lake in Avadi was known as Paaleripattu, which is now found only in very old land documents.
Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) is a governmental agency in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is responsible for the development of industries in the state and often partners with companies in the Indian government's Small Industries Development Corporation program as TANSIDCO. The managing director is Sandeep Nanduri. It is also responsible for the formation of TPIPL, TICEL & TIDEL parks in partnership with ELCOT & SIPCOT.
Thiruvanmiyur is a largely residential neighborhood in the south of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Thiruvanmiyur witnessed a spike in its economy with the construction of Chennai's first dedicated technology office space, the Tidel Information Technology Park in neighboring Taramani. The subsequent rise of several information technology businesses, research centres and offices around Tidel park proved fortuitous for Thiruvanmiyur, as many of the workers at these offices often made Thiruvanmiyur their home. The Marundeeswarar Temple, dedicated to Shiva previously defined the area, leading it to be mentioned in Sangam Tamil epics. It is also commonly referred to as the MICO layout of Chennai city. Other Famous Temples are Ashtalakshmi Temple and Aarupadai Murugan Temple.

Pattabiram is a neighbourhood situated on the western part of Chennai, India. The suburb, which falls under Avadi Municipal Corporation, is about 25 km from the Chennai Central railway station. It is an immediate neighbour of Chennai city proper, and a part of the Chennai Metropolitan Region. It is situated in the western portion of the city.
Madras Central Prison was one of the oldest prisons in India. It was located in Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It became operational during the British Raj period. Its prisoners were moved to the newly constructed Puzhal Central Prison starting in 2006, with the 172 year old prison being demolished in June 2009.

Chennai Trade Centre is a permanent exhibition complex in Nandambakkam, Chennai, hosting several trade fairs and conventions round the year. It is the first fair infrastructure that has been developed by India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO)—the premier trade promotion agency of the Government of India, Ministry of Commerce and Industry—outside Delhi. A joint initiative of the ITPO and the Tamil Nadu Trade Promotion Organisation, which hold 51 and 49 percent stakes, respectively, the Trade Centre was designed by C R Narayan Rao, and was commissioned in January 2001, while the convention centre was commissioned on 1 November 2004. The exhibition hall was constructed at an estimated cost of ₹ 23 crore and the convention centre at a cost of ₹ 22 crore. Together, these centres cover 10,560 sq m and are fully booked for 75 days in a year. Built over an area of 25.48 acres, the centre comprises four modules of 4,400 m2 each of exhibition halls and support services to be built in a phased manner. In the first phase, two air-conditioned halls without pillars or columns encompassing areas of 5,000 m2 and 1,850 m2 were constructed. There are three halls, viz, Hall No. 1 (4,400 m2), Hall No. 2 (1,760 m2) and Hall No. 3 (4,400 m2). The halls feature a height of 6 m to display all merchandise including machinery. These have been supplemented recently with a modern, fully air-conditioned convention centre. All the halls are inter-linked, and Hall No. 3 is connected with the convention centre. The convention centre can accommodate 2,000 people with a provision for dividing the hall into two equal parts and has an audiovisual facility suitable for multi-purpose use such as conferences, conventions, cultural shows, and so forth. The Chennai Trade Centre is managed by Tamil Nadu Trade Promotion Organisation (TNTPO), a joint venture of ITPO and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO).
Economy of Coimbatore is heavily influenced by information technology, engineering and textiles. Coimbatore is called the Manchester of South India due to its extensive textile industry, and IT industry, small and medium scale enterprises. The GDP of Coimbatore is around $45 billion (2021). Many software and software services companies have development centres in Chennai, which contributed 14 percent of India's total software exports of ₹ 14,42,140 lakh during 2006–07, making it the third largest Indian city software exporter following Bangalore, Hyderabad and the city is the home for 7 top rated IT companies out of 15 in India. The Tidel Park in Chennai was billed as Asia's largest IT park when it was built. Major software companies have their offices set up here, with some of them making Chennai their largest base. Chennai is the largest hub for e-publishing, as there are 67 e-publishing units registered with the STPI and many Rs.8300-Cr data centers, digital hubs are in the process of development. A major reason for the growth of the Software industry are the top engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu, of which Chennai is a major contributor, have been a major recruiting hub for the IT firms. According to estimates, these engineering colleges and universities consistently generate about 50 per cent of the human resource requirements for the IT and ITES industry was being sourced from the state, particularly from Chennai. The total employment in the Tamil Nadu’s technology sector crossed the one million mark in the quarter ended June 2022.

Ramanujan IT City is an information technology (IT) special economic zone (SEZ) situated in Chennai, India. Named after the Indian Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, it is a joint venture of Tata Realty and Infrastructure Limited (TRIL), Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO). Situated next to the Tidel Park, it is being developed in a land measuring 25 acres with two zones with a total built-up area of 5.7 million sq ft. including 4.5 million sq ft of office space.
Tamil Nadu Government Multi-Super-Speciality Hospital is a 400-bed government-owned super-speciality hospital in Chennai, India. It is located at the Omandurar Government Estate on Anna Salai and was opened in February 2014. Originally built as Tamil Nadu legislative assembly and secretariat complex in 2010 to house the assembly hall, secretariat and offices of the chief minister and cabinet ministers, the complex was later converted into a super-speciality hospital. It was built in 1.93 million sq ft. at a total cost of ₹ 4,250 million in 2010.
Chennai–Thiruvallur High Road, formerly known as Madras–Thiruvallur High Road, is one of the chief routes connecting the northwestern suburbs of Chennai, India.
