Havant & South Downs College (HSDC) is a Further Education College in Hampshire, United Kingdom. [1] The College was formed on the 1 August 2017 following a merger of South Downs College and Havant Sixth Form College. [2]

Hampshire County of England

Hampshire is a county on the southern coast of England. The county town is the city of Winchester. Its two largest cities, Southampton and Portsmouth, are administered separately as unitary authorities; the rest of the county is governed by Hampshire County Council.

The College provision includes nearly 40 A Level subjects, Vocational courses including UAL and BTEC qualifications, and Apprenticeships delivered in partnership with leading local and national businesses.

The College has just under 7,500 students, with nearly 4,200 of these being full-time students, and 380 Apprentices. As of 2018 Havant & South Downs College has 1,300 adult learners, and nearly 300 Higher Education students.

Havant & South Downs College has three main campuses both located within Hampshire

The first is the South Downs Campus, on Portsdown Hill. This site is the former location of South Downs College and is the vocational hub of HSDC.

Portsdown Hill mountain in United Kingdom

Portsdown Hill is a long chalk ridge in Hampshire, England. The highest point of the hill lies within Fort Southwick at 131m above sea level. The ridge offers good views to the south over Portsmouth, the Solent, Hayling Island and Gosport, with the Isle of Wight beyond. The hill is on the mainland, just to the north of Ports Creek, which separates the mainland from Portsea Island, on which lies the main part of the city of Portsmouth, one of the United Kingdom's main naval bases. To the north lies the Forest of Bere, with the South Downs visible in the distance. Butser Hill can be seen on a clear day. The hill is formed from an inlier of chalk which has been brought to the surface by an east-west upfold of the local strata known as the Portsdown Anticline.

The second HSDC campus is located in Havant. This is the former site of Havant Sixth Form College.

Havant & South Downs College is a further education college in Havant, United Kingdom. It was established in 2017 from the merging of Havant Sixth Form College and South Downs College.

The third campus is Alton College. Alton merged with HSDC in 2019, although remains more independent from the other two.

Alton College

Alton College is a sixth form college located in Alton, Hampshire, England. As well as being a sixth form, the college provides an adult education service to the local population as well as catering for students with disabilities from nearby Treloar College. It was built in 1978 and was one of the first institutions in the UK to be a purpose-built sixth form college. In 2019 it merged with Havant & South Downs College, becoming the third campus of the college.

In addition to the full-time A Level and Vocational courses taught at Havant & South Downs College there are also a range of part-time and Higher Education courses on offer. A number of the HSDC Higher Education courses are taught in partnership with local universities including the University of Chichester and the University of Portsmouth.

Emma Barton English actress

Emma Louise Barton is an English actress. She played Honey Mitchell in EastEnders from November 2005 to September 2008, and on a temporary basis during 2014. Barton returned full-time in late 2015.

Nick Bright is a British Radio and television presenter. He currently hosts Saturday mid mornings on BBC Radio 1Xtra, The Squad on BBC Radio 5 Live, Sundays at midday, numerous different projects for BBC Sport and the Arsenal Matchday Show.
