Southard, Missouri

Southard is an unincorporated community in southern Laclede County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. [1] The community is on a county road two miles south of Nebo and 3.5 miles northwest of Lynchburg. The Pine Creek tributary to the Gasconade River flows past the south side of the community. [2]

A post office called Southard was established in 1906, and remained in operation until 1939. [3] D. T. Southard, an early postmaster, gave the community his last name. [4]

The Gasconade River lies just east of the community, which is within the Mark Twain National Forest. The community consists of a post office and two houses.

The community is located just over one mile southeast of the Laclede-Pulaski county line and one mile east of Missouri Route K.
