The University of Johannesburg, colloquially known as UJ, is a public university located in Johannesburg, South Africa. The University of Johannesburg was established on the 1st of January 2005 as the result of a merger between the Rand Afrikaans University (RAU), the Technikon Witwatersrand (TWR) and the Soweto and East Rand campuses of Vista University. Prior to the merger, the Daveyton and Soweto campuses of the former Vista University had been incorporated into RAU. As a result of the merger of Rand Afrikaans University (RAU), it is common for alumni to refer to the university as RAU.

Cedric Thomas Frolick, is the current House Chairperson: Committees, Oversight and ICT in the National Assembly of Parliament for the Republic of South Africa. A teacher, politician, anti-apartheid activist. He retired from teaching in 1999 and subsequently became a politician in the National Assembly. On 18 November 2010, the ANC appointed him as the House Chairperson responsible for Committees, ICT and Oversight.

She previously served as a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, having been elected in 1994. In 2004, she was named Gauteng MEC for Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture. She served until 2009 when she was appointed MEC for Education. Newly elected premier David Makhura moved Creecy to the Gauteng Finance portfolio in 2014.

Kenetswe Norah Mosenogi is a South African politician from the North West. A member of the African National Congress, she has been the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Arts, Culture and Recreation since November 2022 and a Member of the North West Provincial Legislature since May 2019. Previously, she had served as the MEC for Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism from May 2019 to November 2022. Mosenogi also served as the deputy secretary-general of the African National Congress Youth League from 2011 until 2013.
Matome Kopano Chiloane is a South African politician who has been the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Education and Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation in Gauteng since July 2024. He previously served as the MEC for Education from October 2022 to June 2024. He has been a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature since March 2018, representing the African National Congress. He formerly served as the chairperson of the education committee in the legislature. Chiloane is also the provincial chairperson of the African National Congress Youth League.
Mbali Dawn Hlophe is a South African politician who served as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation from May 2019 to October 2022 and then as the MEC for Social Development from October 2022 until June 2024. A member of the African National Congress, she has been a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature since May 2019.
Tsepo Winston Mhlongo is a South African politician. As a member of the Democratic Alliance, he served as a councillor in the City of Johannesburg until the 2014 national election, when he was elected to the National Assembly of South Africa. After that, he was appointed Shadow Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform. Mhlongo became the Shadow Minister of Sport and Recreation in January 2017 before he was selected to be Shadow Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture in June 2019. On 1 December 2023, Mhlongo was expelled from the DA and lost his parliamentary membership. He has since joined ActionSA.
Fezeka Nkomonye-Bayeni is a South African politician who served the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture in the Eastern Cape from 2019 until 2022. She has been a member of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature since 2014, and previously from 2009 to 2010. Nkomonye-Bayeni is a member of the African National Congress.
Beauty Nomvuzo Dlulane is a South African politician who is currently serving as the chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Sports, Arts and Culture in the National Assembly of South Africa. She has represented the African National Congress (ANC) in Parliament since 1997. Between 2012 and 2022, she was also a member of the National Executive Committee of the ANC.
Blessing Thandi Shongwe is a South African politician. She formerly served as Speaker of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature from 2014 until March 2018, when she was first appointed to the Mpumalanga Executive Council as the MEC for Culture, Sport and Recreation. Following the 2019 election, she was moved to the Social Development portfolio before returning as the MEC for Culture, Sport and Recreation in February 2021. She left the provincial legislature in May 2024. She is a member of the African National Congress (ANC).
