Sreekumar Krishnan Nair (born 17 June 1962), often credited on screen as K. Sreekuttan) is an Indian filmmaker, best known for directing the 1993 film O' Faby , which was India's first full-length live action/animation hybrid feature film. [1] [2] [3] He is the youngest son of prolific south Indian filmmaker M. Krishnan Nair and younger brother of Retired Indian Administrative Service officer, poet and lyricist K. Jayakumar. [4] [5]
Prior to making films as a director, Sreekumar served as an A.D. (First Assistant Director, Second-Unit Director and Chief Associate Director) under prominent South Indian filmmaker, Hariharan, who in turn served as an assistant of his father. His stint with director Hariharan was more than a decade long, working on seventeen films together, among which eight were scripted by 'Padma Bhushan' awardee and Jnanpith laureate M. T. Vasudevan Nair, one of the greatest scenarists in Indian film history. He was the Chief Associate Director of the Indian classic Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha . He has also directed several television commercials and documentaries. [6]
He was commissioned to direct the epic historical film Marthanda Varma in 2011, filmed simultaneously in English and Malayalam (spoken in the Indian state of Kerala and the surrounding area). [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] The project eventually got shelved. He subsequently served as the strategy director of Tecgemini. [12] [13]

Malayalam cinema is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Malayalam language, which is widely spoken in the state of Kerala, India. In 1982, Elippathayam won the Sutherland Trophy at the London Film Festival, and Most Original Imaginative Film of 1982 by the British Film Institute. The film Marana Simhasanam has won the prestigious Caméra d'Or at the 1999 Cannes Film Festival.

Hariharan is an Indian film director who has directed over 50 Malayalam films. His movies mainly revolve around the cultural and relational aspects of a typical Keralite society. His most notable works include Sharapancharam (1979), Panchagni (1986), Idavazhiyile Poocha Mindappoocha (1979), Amrutham Gamaya (1987), Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha (1989), Sargam (1992), Parinayam (1994) and Pazhassi Raja (2009) which has won him wide critical acclaim. In 2019, he was awarded the J. C. Daniel Award, Kerala government's highest honour for contributions to Malayalam cinema.
M. Krishnan Nair was an Indian oncologist. He was the founding director of the Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, a director of the S.U.T. Institute of Oncology, and Trivandrum Cancer Center(TCC), part of SUT Royal Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) and a professor at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences & Research in Kochi. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian award of the Padma Shri in 2001 for his contributions in the cancer care field.
Marthandavarma is a historical romance novel by C. V. Raman Pillai published in 1891. It recounts the history of Venad (Travancore) during the final period of Rajah Rama Varma's reign and subsequently to the accession of Marthanda Varma. Set in Kollavarsham 901–906, the story revolves around three protagonists, Ananthapadmanabhan, Subhadra and Mangoikkal Kuruppu, who try to protect the title character from Padmanabhan Thambi and Ettu Veetil Pillamar who plan to oust him from the throne of Travancore. The novel utilizes rich allusions to the Indian subcontinent and Western, historical, cultural and literary traditions.

Balan is a lost 1938 Indian Malayalam-language drama film produced by T. R. Sundaram under the banner of Modern Theatres, directed by S. Nottani and written by Muthukulam Raghavan Pillai. It is notable for being the first sound film in the Malayalam language, and the third feature film in Malayalam cinema after Vigathakumaran and Marthanda Varma. O' Faby is a 1993 Indian Malayalam-language film. It was Asia's first full-length live action/animation hybrid feature film. It is directed by Sreekumar Krishnan Nair and stars Nagesh, Thilakan, Roque Tharakan, Manoj K. Jayan and Srividya. The director of animation was Ram Mohan, known as the father of Indian animation. Famous singers KJ Yesudas, KS Chithra and SP Balasubrahmanyam sing songs with lyrics penned by Bichu Thirumala. The cinematography team included Jayanan Vincent, Ramachandra Babu and Venugopal Madathil.
M. Krishnan Nair was an Indian film director of Malayalam films. He directed over 100 films. He also directed 18 Tamil movie including four films starring M. G.
