The Sri Lanka national men's cricket team, nicknamed The Lions, represents Sri Lanka in men's international cricket. It is a Full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with Test, One-Day International (ODI) and T20 International (T20I) status. The team first played international cricket in 1926–27, and were later awarded Test status in 1981, which made Sri Lanka the eighth Test cricket playing nation. The team is administered by Sri Lanka Cricket.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is a Sri Lankan management group for the sport of cricket, first registered with the Ministry of Sports on 30 June 1975 as a national sports body. Initially named Board of Cricket for Sri Lanka (BCCSL), it was renamed Sri Lanka Cricket in 2003. Joseph Ravindran "Ravi" Ratnayeke, is a Sri Lankan Australian businessman and former cricketer who was ODI captain of Sri Lankan cricket team. Ratnayeke played 22 Tests and 78 ODIs from 1982 to 1990, his Test best bowling performance of eight wickets for 83 runs at Jinnah Stadium (Sialkot) Pakistan was a Sri Lankan Test record at the time, and was also vice captain to Arjuna Ranatunga.

The National Stadium is a cricket stadium in Karachi, Pakistan, owned by the Pakistan Cricket Board. It is the home ground of Karachi Kings and Karachi's many other domestic cricket teams. It is the largest cricket stadium in Pakistan with a capacity of 34,228 spectators.
The R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium(RPS) is a cricket stadium on Khettarama Road, Maligawatta, Colombo, Sri Lanka. The stadium was, before June 1994, known as the Khettarama Cricket Stadium and is today one of the main venues where the Sri Lankan cricket team play, having hosted more than 100 one day international matches. It is the largest stadium in Sri Lanka with capacity of 35,000 spectators. It has hosted the 2012 ICC World Twenty20 finals between Sri Lanka and West Indies, 2002 ICC Champions Trophy finals between Sri Lanka and India and first semi final of the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup between Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Also this is the venue where the highest Test score in the history was recorded; 952 by Sri Lanka against India. It has capacity exceeding Lord's Cricket Ground. It is nicknamed "Home of Sri Lankan cricket".
The ACC Asian Test Championship was a professional Test cricket tournament contested between the Test playing nations of Asia: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. It is not a regular event in the cricketing calendar and has so far been held only twice; in 1998–99 when Pakistan won and in 2001–02 with Sri Lanka as champions. It was originally planned that the tournament would be held every two years, alternatively with the Asia Cup.
International cricket played in the 2006 cricket season is defined as matches scheduled between May and August 2006 in all cricketing countries, as well as all international matches scheduled for the 2006 English cricket season. Matches between January and April are defined as belonging to the 2005–06 season, while matches between September and December are defined as the 2006–07 season. The country's most notable players includes Aravinda De Silva, Arjuna Ranathunga, Rangana Herath, Sanath Jayasuriya, Mahela Jayawardene, Muttiah Muralitharan, Kumar Sangakkara and Chaminda Vaas. Administration and governance are performed by Sri Lanka Cricket, which was founded in July 1922 as the Ceylon Cricket Association (CCA). The main domestic competition is the Premier Trophy which attained first-class status in 1988.
The England cricket team toured Sri Lanka in February 1982. The tour included two One Day International (ODI) matches and one Test match. Sri Lanka had become a Test playing nation the year before, and this was their inaugural Test match. Many celebrations had been prepared in Sri Lanka, include the issuing of commemorative stamps and coins.
The England national cricket team, organised by Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), toured India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka from December 1972 to March 1973 and played a five-match Test series against the India national cricket team followed by three Tests against the Pakistan national cricket team. England were captained by Tony Lewis. The Sri Lanka national cricket team was not Test-qualified at that time and played a single first-class match against MCC in Colombo.
Usman Khan Shinwari is professional Pakistani cricketer. He is a left-arm fast bowler who plays for the Zarai Taraqiati Bank Ltd cricket team (ZTBL) in Pakistan's first-class cricket circuit. He has also previously played for the Khan Research Laboratories cricket team (KRL). In December 2013, he bowled ZTBL to victory in the national T20 final with impressive figures of 5 wickets for 9 runs in four overs. He was subsequently picked for the national side in the T20 series against Sri Lanka in the UAE.
The 2019–21 ICC World Test Championship is the inaugural edition of the ICC World Test Championship of Test cricket. It started from 1 August 2019 with the first Test of the 2019 Ashes series, and will finish with a final at Lord's in England in June 2021.
The Sri Lankan cricket team toured Pakistan in September and October 2019 to play three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches against the Pakistan cricket team. The tour originally had two Test matches scheduled to take place, but these were moved to December 2019. Sri Lanka last played a match in Pakistan in October 2017, when the third T20I took place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Pakistan won the ODI series 2–0, after the first match was washed out, and Sri Lanka won the T20I series 3–0.
The England cricket team were scheduled to tour Sri Lanka in March 2020 to play two Test matches. The Test series was scheduled to form part of the inaugural 2019–21 ICC World Test Championship. The schedule for the tour was confirmed in October 2019. In January 2020 Sri Lanka Cricket changed the venue of the second Test from the R. Premadasa Stadium to the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, due to renovation work that was being done.
The Bangladesh cricket team were scheduled to tour Sri Lanka from October 2020 to play three Test matches. The Test series would have formed part of the inaugural 2019–21 ICC World Test Championship. Originally, the tour was scheduled to take place in July and August 2020, but it was postponed to October 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In September 2020, the tour was postponed again, after both boards could not agree on the quarantine requirements for the series.
The England cricket team are scheduled to tour Sri Lanka in January 2021 to play two Test matches. The Test series will form part of the inaugural 2019–21 ICC World Test Championship. Originally, the tour was scheduled to take place in March 2020, but the series was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
