Sri Ranveer Sanskrit Vidyalaya, informally Ranveer Sanskrit Vidyalaya or RSV is more than a century old Sanskrit school under the Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh India. [1] [2]

History

Sri Ranveer Sanskrit Vidyalaya was established in 1883 by Maharaja Ranveer Singh, Maharaja of Jammu & Kashmir as the Jammu Kashmir Pathshala. [3] In 1901, it was transferred to Central Hindu Collegiate of Annie Besant. On establishment of the Banaras Hindu University, the Ranveer Sanskrit Vidyalaya along with Central Hindu Girls School and Central Hindu Boys School was transferred to the Central Hindu School Board under Banaras Hindu University. Admissions

Admissions to Sri Ranveer Sanskrit Vidyalaya are done by the Office of Controller of Examinations, Banaras Hindu University. Intake is at class one, class six, seven, eight (Prathama), and class nine (Praveshika) and class eleven (Madhyama). [7] [8]

Bharatendu Harishchandra was an Indian poet, writer and playwright. He authored several dramas, life sketches and travel accounts, using new media such as reports, publications, letters to editors of publications, translations, and literary works to shape public opinion. 'Bharatendu Harishchandra' is often considered as the father of Hindi literature and Hindi theatre. He has been hailed as a Yug Charan for his writings depicting the exploitative nature of the British Raj.

Dhirendra Verma was an Indian poet and writer. He used to write in Hindi and Brij Bhasha. Verma holds the same prominence for introducing scientific methods to research in Hindi language and literature as does Ramchandra Shukla. On the basis of his research in Indian languages, he published the first scientific history of Indian languages in 1933. He wrote his doctoral thesis on Brij Bhasha in French which was later translated into Hindi.

Kshullak Ganeshprasad Varni was one of the foundational figures of the modern Indian Digambara intellectual tradition during the early 20th century. He was the founder of several schools and institutions of advanced learning including Syadvad Mahavidyalaya at Varanasi in 1905, Varanasi and Satark-Sudhataringini Digamber Jain Pathshala, now Ganesh Digamber Jain Sanskrit Vidyalaya at Sagar.

The Banaras Hindu University Kulgeet (BHU Kulgeet), i.e., Madhur Manohar Ateev Sundar (transl. sweet serene, infinitely beautiful) is a poem written by Indian chemist Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar while serving as professor at BHU. It has been composed by another professor at BHU, Pt. Omkar Nath Thakur.

"Chirja" is a devotional song in Rajasthani and Gujarati literature as a prayer to the female form of divine, Shakti. Chirja is a new poetic form in Shakti-Kavya in Rajasthani literature. Chirjas are primarily sung by women especially during Jagrans during the worship of goddess. The word Chirja is derived from the Sanskrit term Charya.

Thakur Akshay Singh Ratnu was a Rajasthani, Brajbhasha and Hindi poet from Rajasthan. His penned poems criticising the British policies of divide & rule. He is considered as one of the modern traditionalist poets. He was a scholar of Hindi, Rajasthani, Dingal(Old Rajasthani), Urdu, Sanskrit and Prakrit. He has been awarded with epithets of 'Sahitya Bhushan', 'Sahitya Ratna', and 'Kavi Ratna'.

Thakur Zorawar Singh Barhath was an Indian revolutionary and independence activist. He is known for the assassination attempt on the Viceroy of India, Lord Hardinge, by throwing a bomb at him during a procession in New Delhi.

Chetavani ra Chungatya is a patriotic Dingal poem composed by Thakur Kesari Singh Barhath in 1903 and addressed to Maharana of Mewar, Fateh Singh, exhorting him to uphold the traditions of his lineage and to not attend the Delhi Durbar. The couplets had the desired effect on the Maharana who decided not to attend the durbar despite being present in Delhi. The work remains one of the great literary works produced during the freedom struggle. It consists of 13 stanzas or sortha (saurashtra-duha).
