Stenanthium leimanthoides is a poisonous monocot wildflower. It is either treated as a separate species to Stenanthium densum [3] or as a synonym of that species. [4] A common name is pine barren deathcamas.

Within the family Melanthiaceae, it is placed in the tribe Melanthieae. Molecular phylogenetic studies in the 21st century have resulted in substantial rearrangement of the species in this tribe, many being moved to different genera. S. leimanthoides was previously placed in Zigadenus as Z. leimanthoides, and will be found under this name in older sources. [5]

It is native to the southernmost United States, more inland than S. densum, largely in the Appalachian Mountains.

Other common names for these plants include deadly zigadene, hog potato and mystery-grass.

Members of Anticlea may also be distinguished from other members of the former genus Zigadenus, the deathcamases, by the presence of narrow tepals with a single, conspicuous, bilobed gland. Pseudolycopodium is a genus of lycophyte in the family Lycopodiaceae with only one species, Pseudolycopodium densum, known as the bushy clubmoss. In the Pteridophyte Phylogeny Group classification of 2016, the genus is placed in the subfamily Lycopodioideae. Some sources do not recognize the genus, sinking it into Lycopodium. Pseudolycopodium densum is native to Australia, the North Island of New Zealand and New Caledonia. It is a spore-bearing vascular plant and grows up to a metre high. It is found in a wide variety of situations, often in high rainfall areas on sandy soils.
