Suffolk Transit is the provider of bus service within Suffolk, Virginia. Suffolk Transit provides six bus routes with limited service on Saturday and no service on Sunday. Paratransit services are also provided. [2] [3] The company operates minibuses with a capacity of 19 passengers. [4]
Suffolk, Virginia was served by Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) until around late 2011, when HRT stopped serving the area due to low ridership and monetary concerns. [5] Suffolk Transit was opened on January 1, 2012, operated by the company Virginia Regional Transit. [6] The service originally had two routes with ten bus stops, which by 2023 had grown to six bus routes 180 bus stops. [1] [7] Ridership in the first year was 24,662. [1]
In 2022, Suffolk Transit received a grant from the Department of Transportation to purchase two electric buses and charging stations. [8] [9] Ridership in 2022 was 108,658. [1] The company has also been evaluating a commuter bus route to Windsor, Virginia pending funding and have a plan for a commuter bus route between the industrial park area in Suffolk and the Victory Crossing area in Portsmouth, Virginia. [10] [11] Suffolk Transit also plans to increase collaboration with other nearby bus operators, HRT and Williamsburg Area Transit Authority to increase access to transit in the area. [12] HRT also operates an express bus route in the area that goes to the Amazon warehouse. [13]

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is a transit agency serving the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex of Texas. It operates buses, light rail, commuter rail, and high-occupancy vehicle lanes in Dallas and twelve of its suburbs. In 2023, the system had a ridership of 50,463,300, or about 157,900 per weekday as of the first quarter of 2024.
TheBus is the public bus transportation service on the island of Oʻahu, Hawai'i, in the United States. In 2023, TheBus had a ridership of 41,661,900, or about 135,000 per weekday, and its fleet comprised 518 buses and 207 paratransit vehicles. As of June 2024, these vehicles provide daily service on 115 routes, including three rapid transit routes and two limited express routes. All buses are equipped with bike racks. TheBus is privately managed by the nonprofit Oahu Transit Services Inc., which operates the system under a public-private partnership with the City and County of Honolulu's Department of Transportation Services.
Community Transit (CT) is the public transit authority of Snohomish County, Washington, United States, excluding the city of Everett, in the Seattle metropolitan area. The Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority, formerly known as the Miami Valley RTA, is a public transit agency that generally serves the greater Dayton, Ohio area. The GDRTA serves communities within Montgomery County and parts of Greene County, Ohio, USA. There are 18 routes. RTA operates diesel and electric trolley buses seven days a week, 21 hours a day, and provides services to many citizens within the area. RTA's current CEO is Bob Ruzinsky. In 2023, the system had a ridership of 6,570,600, or about 24,400 per weekday as of the first quarter of 2024.
Hampton Roads Transit (HRT), incorporated on October 1, 1999, began through the voluntary merger of PENTRAN on the Virginia Peninsula and TRT in South Hampton Roads and currently serves over 22 million annual passengers within its 369-square-mile (960 km2) service area around Hampton Roads. The purpose of the HRT is to provide reliable and efficient transportation service and facilities to the Hampton Roads community. In 2023, the system had a ridership of 7,263,900, or about 28,000 per weekday as of the first quarter of 2024.
CUE Bus (City-University-Energysaver) is a bus service operated by the City of Fairfax, Virginia, and is completely separate from the Fairfax Connector bus service run by Fairfax County. In 2023, the system had a ridership of 945,900, or about 3,600 per weekday as of the first quarter of 2024.
Embark is the public transit agency of the COTPA trust, the largest transit agency in the state of Oklahoma. Embark has 20 interconnecting bus routes covering the city of Oklahoma City and parts of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area, including weekday Express service from Norman to Downtown Oklahoma City. Embark also operates paratransit, the Oklahoma City Streetcar, downtown public parking, bike share, and river ferry services. Additionally, Embark provides administrative and executive support for the Regional Transportation Authority of Central Oklahoma.

Williamsburg Area Transit Authority (WATA) is a multi-jurisdiction transportation agency providing transit bus and ADA Paratransit services in the City of Williamsburg, James City County, York County in the Historic Triangle area and Surry County, VA of the Virginia Peninsula subregion of Hampton Roads in southeastern Virginia.
Arlington Transit (ART) is a bus transit system that operates in Arlington County, Virginia, and is managed by the county government. The bus system provides service within Arlington County, and connects to Metrobus, nearby Metrorail stations, Virginia Railway Express, and other local bus systems. Most ART routes serve to connect county neighborhoods to local Metrorail stations, as well as the Shirlington Bus Station. It includes part of the Pike Ride service along Columbia Pike, which is shared with WMATA. In 2023, the system had a ridership of 2,258,200, or about 8,200 per weekday as of the first quarter of 2024.
Culver CityBus is a public transport agency operating in Culver City, California, currently serving Culver City, the unincorporated community of Marina del Rey, and the adjacent Los Angeles neighborhoods.
The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) is a government agency that provides public transportation for Pinellas County, Florida. The authority manages a fixed-route bus system that encompasses over 40 bus routes - including two express routes to Tampa; the Central Avenue Trolley; the Suncoast Beach Trolley; and the bus rapid transit service, the SunRunner.
The Tide is a 7.4 mi (12 km) light rail line in Norfolk, Virginia, United States, owned and operated by Hampton Roads Transit (HRT). It connects Eastern Virginia Medical School, downtown Norfolk, Norfolk State University, and Newtown Road. Service began on August 19, 2011, making it the first light rail system in Virginia. Fares match local bus fares and the line accepts HRT's GO Passes. Trains generally run every 15 minutes, increasing to every 10 minutes during peak periods and every 30 minutes during early mornings and late evenings. In 2023, the system had a ridership of 771,500, or about 2,300 per weekday as of the first quarter of 2024.
Historically, the harbor was the key to the Hampton Roads area's growth, both on land and in water-related activities and events. Ironically, the harbor and its tributary waterways were both important transportation conduits and obstacles to other land-based commerce and travel. For hundreds of years, state and community leaders have worked to develop solutions to accommodate both.
The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County (RTC) is the public body responsible for the transportation needs throughout Reno, Sparks and Washoe County, Nevada. The RTC, founded by the Nevada Legislature in 1979, is an amalgamation of the Regional Street and Highway Commission, the Regional Transit Commission and the Washoe County Area Transportation Study Policy Committee. They provide public transportation services, street and highway construction, and transportation planning. In 2023, the system had a ridership of 5,162,600, or about 16,200 per weekday as of the first quarter of 2024.
SolTrans, officially Solano County Transit, is a Joint Powers Authority that provides public transportation service to the southern Solano County cities of Vallejo and Benicia. SolTrans was established in 2011 and is the result of a merger between Vallejo Transit and Benicia Breeze. In 2023, the system had a ridership of 954,200, or about 3,700 per weekday as of the first quarter of 2024.
The VB Wave is a tourist trolley circulator bus line in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The system contains three of the Hampton Roads Transit bus lines that link the beachfront to other attractions in inner Virginia Beach. The VB Wave has its own right-of-way, off-bus fare collection, streetcar-inspired design, and more frequent services. The service runs seasonally, starting in May and ending on Labor Day or Neptune Festival. Hampton Roads Transit route 20 connects the system with downtown Norfolk, Virginia.
The Metrobus network provides bus service throughout Miami-Dade County 365 days a year, operated by Miami-Dade Transit. It consists of about 79 routes and 771 buses, which connect most points in the county and part of southern Broward County as well. As of 2023, the system has 58,282,300 rides per year, or about 198,500 per day in the first quarter of 2024.
