Sultan Ahmed (born 11 October 1989) is a Pakistani-born cricketer who plays for the United Arab Emirates national cricket team. [1] [2] He made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut for the United Arab Emirates against Papua New Guinea on 12 April 2017. [3] In April 2019, he was named in the UAE's One Day International (ODI) squad for their series against Zimbabwe. [4] He made his ODI debut for the UAE against Zimbabwe on 10 April 2019. [5]

In September 2019, he was named in the United Arab Emirates' squad for the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament in the UAE. [6] In December 2020, he was one of ten cricketers to be awarded a year-long full-time contract by the Emirates Cricket Board. [7]

The Papua New Guinea national cricket team toured the United Arab Emirates in March and April 2017 to play three One Day Internationals (ODIs), three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) and a first-class match. Two of the three ODI matches were part of the 2015–17 ICC World Cricket League Championship and the first-class match was part of the 2015–17 ICC Intercontinental Cup tournament. Before the international fixtures, Papua New Guinea played warm-up matches against the English sides Middlesex County Cricket Club and Yorkshire County Cricket Club.

The 2019 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Qualifier was a cricket tournament held during October and November 2019 in the United Arab Emirates to determine the teams that would qualify for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament. The six teams finishing highest in the qualifier tournament joined Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the first group stage of the 2020 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The tournament formed part of the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier series, with the Netherlands winning the final.
