Svetlana Rusu (born 9 April 1972) is a Moldovan politician. [1] [2]
Se has served as a member of the Parliament of Moldova since 2009. In 2010,Svetlana Popa left the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova. She was a member of Democratic Party of Moldova and United Moldova Party. [3]
The Christian-Democratic People's Party is a Christian-democratic political party in Moldova. The party was led by Iurie Roșca from 1994 until 2011. Until 2005,the PPCD and the (Moldovan) National Liberal Party were the main political organizations in the country supporting the unification of Moldova and Romania. After the PPCD began supporting the anti-unification Communist President Vladimir Voronin,the party has lost its unionist credentials while other parties such as the Liberal Party have taken over the pro-Romanian ideological space. The party has had very poor results in all subsequent elections. Since April 2005,the PPCD has lost several deputies,mayors,councillors and members to the liberal-democratic parties. The PPCD was an informal coalition partner of the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova from 2005–2009.
Liberalism and radicalism are important political movements in Romania. Not all Romanian political parties relevant to this tradition have explicitly described themselves as liberal or radical.

The party opposes the unification of Moldova and Romania,NATO membership for Moldova,is anti-Western and supports closer ties with Russia. The Civil Congress confirmed in the party charter the absence of the position of the party chairman,which is classical for political parties,and the principle of collective leadership of a political formation.
On 18 September 2022,protests in Moldova began in the capital city of Chișinău,demanding the resignation of the country's pro-Western government,amid an energy crisis causing rising natural gas prices and inflation,caused in part by the war in Ukraine.
