The Swiss Cup was the national ice hockey cup competition of Switzerland which had been played annually from 2015 until 2021. The tournament was originally played from 1957 to 1966, then once more in 1972. On 28 May 2013, the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation announced that the cup will be revived from the 2014–15 season. [1] At the beginning of the 2020-21 season, the SIHF announced that the 2021 edition would be the last one.
SC Bern won the final edition on February 28, 2021, against the ZSC Lions in an empty Hallenstadion.

The National League (NL) is a professional ice hockey league in Switzerland and is the top tier of the Swiss league system. Prior to the 2017–18 season, the league was known as National League A. During the 2018–19 season, the league had an average of 6,949 spectators per game which is the highest among European leagues. The capital city's club SC Bern has been ranked first of all European clubs for 18 seasons and had an average attendance of 16,290 after the regular season. The ZSC Lions are another club in the top ten of European ice hockey attendance, ranking seventh with 9,694 spectators.

The league was founded in 1986 as the Leistungsklasse A, abbreviated LKA, and was also officially known as the Ligue nationale A in French and the Lega Nazionale A in Italian, both abbreviated as LNA. During 2014 to 2019, the league was called the Swiss Women's Hockey League A, abbreviated SWHL A; the abbreviation has been used by the league following the 2019 name change. An amateur league, it is organized by the Regio League, an organ of the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation.
Tristan Scherwey is a Swiss professional ice hockey winger who is currently playing for SC Bern of the National League (NL). He served as captain of the team for the 2014–15 season. He won five NL titles with Bern in 2010, 2013, 2016, 2017 and 2019. Scherwey also won the Swiss Cup with Bern in 2015. Scherwey represented Switzerland at the 2018 Winter Olympics and won a silver medal at the 2018 World Championship.
