The Sydney Harbour Federation Trust ("Harbour Trust") is an Australian Government agency established in 2001 to preserve and rehabilitate a number of defence and other Commonwealth lands in and around Sydney Harbour. [1] The Trust has been focused on the remediation of protected islands and make the islands accessible to the public.

A number of other bodies have responsibility for the management of lands around Sydney Harbour including the Sydney Harbour National Park, an entity of the New South Wales State Government.
Parking and other illegal activities on Sydney Harbour Trust land is enforced as a Commonwealth offence by special Sydney Harbour Trust rangers, which is a minimum $100 fine and is not enforced as a NSW Government State Debt Recovery Office matter.
The Trust comprises eight non-executive members (including a chair) appointed by the Minister for the Environment and Water for a three-year term. Two members are appointed on the recommendation of the NSW Government, one representing the interests of Aboriginal people, and another who provides a local government perspective and experience. The Executive Team comprises six directors under the leadership of an Executive Director. The Executive Director is appointed by the Minister on the recommendation of the Members of the Trust and manages the day-to-day affairs of the agency under trust oversight. The Federation Pavilion was a temporary structure erected in Centennial Park, Sydney, for use in the celebrations marking the Federation of Australia on 1 January 1901. It was used to swear in the members of the first Federal Executive Council, including Australia's first governor-general and prime minister. The pavilion was originally covered in ornate plasterwork, but the exterior was not preserved and soon fell into disrepair. In 1903, the wooden framework was purchased by the Municipality of Concord and moved to Cabarita Park in the suburb of the Cabarita. The property is now owned by the City of Canada Bay, and was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 22 December 2000. The pavilion has appeared in the clear panel of the Australian five-dollar note since 2016, when the new Next Generation Banknote series went into circulation.
The Cronulla Fisheries Centre or Cronulla Fisheries Research Centre is a heritage-listed former fisheries research centre and now public reserve and marine rescue base located at the Southern end of Nicholson Parade, Cronulla, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It was built from 1904. It is also known as The Cronulla Fisheries Centre and Hungry Point Reserve; NSW Fisheries Research Institute; CSIRO Fisheries Division and the CSIRO Division of Fisheries & Oceanography. The property is owned by the NSW Department of Primary Industries, a department of the Government of New South Wales. The site has heritage listed buildings and several Australian Aboriginal sites. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.
Stanley Haviland was a New South Wales public servant who served as Under Secretary of the Department of Local Government from 1946 to 1960, and was President of the Metropolitan Water Sewerage and Drainage Board from 1960 to 1965. He was also prominent in the development and initiation of the Sydney Opera House as Chairman of the Opera House Executive Committee and the Sydney Opera House Trust from 1954 to 1969.
The Water Act 2007 (Cth), is an Act of the Parliament of Australia. It is Australia's primary legislation that concerns the Commonwealth Government's powers over the Murray–Darling Basin, and is administered by the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment. The Act enables the Commonwealth to enforce compliance, enact intervention, and work with the Basin state governments to achieve the Act's objectives which include the management of the Basin's water resources, addressing threats to the Basin, promoting the environmentally, economically and socially sustainable use of the Basin's resources, conservation of the Basin ecosystem, maximising the economic benefit to the Basin communities, and improving water security.
