Synchiropus novaecaledoniae, the West Jumeau bigeye dragonet, is a species of fish in the dragonet family Callionymidae. It is found in the western-central Pacific Ocean. [1] [2]

Etymology

The fish is named after New Caledonia where the fish is found. [3]

The specific name honours Dirk François Schaap, a Dutch colonial administrator in the Dutch East Indies who lived on Bangka Island, Sumatra, who found this species.
