T. D. J. Nagabhushanam (1928 - 2016) [1] was an Agricultural Economist [5] associated initially with the Andhra University in the 1950s followed by the Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University (APAU) [6] since the 1960s in Bapatla and Hyderabad respectively. Nagabhushanam first taught at the Agricultural College, Bapatla, which was then an affiliated entity of the Andhra University [4] until it became a constituent College of the APAU in 1964. [4] After nearly three decades of teaching [4] in Bapatla, Nagabhushanam became the Principal [7] during the 1980s [4] after which he was made Dean of Agricultural economics [8] and was notable for his research articles that were written over a period of nearly five decades beginning with the 1950s. [9]

Education and career

Nagabhushanam pursued studies in sciences specialising in Agriculture at the Andhra University [10] during the 1950s [10] where his postgraduate research was entitled A Study of the Economic and Social condition in Guntur District [10] and joined the Agricultural College, Bapatla on 4 June 1951 [11] as Assistant Lecturer [12] in Agricultural Economics and rose on to become a professor, Principal and finally Dean [13] of Agricultural Economics at the Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University. In addition to his teaching and administrative responsibilities at the university that included thesis supervision, [14] Nagabhushanam had a flair for scientific research and contributed articles and was also a book reviewer in The Indian Journal of Agricultural Economics [15] and delivered a guest lecture on Methodical Improvements in Agricultural Research in Economics at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore in 1981. [16]

During the 1960s, Nagabhushanam was a Lieutenant in the National Cadet Corps. [17] He was also a member of the Indian Society of Agricultural Economics and was also elected to its executive committee in the year 1979. [18]

Honorary initiatives

As a reader of the Telugu Bible, Nagabhushanam was also involved in the work of the Bible Societies [1] and was a fund-raiser and member of the Bible Society of India Andhra Pradesh Auxiliary and subsequently in the 1990s, during the tenures of the Auxiliary Secretaries led by the Baptist Priest Lella Prakasam, CBCNC [19] followed by the Old Testament Scholar, [20] G. Babu Rao, CBCNC, [21] he was elevated to the position of a Committee Member and Vice-president [1] of the Auxiliary which was then housed at the Bible House in Secunderabad. [22]

Premasagar's articles appeared in the Expository Times (1966), the Vetus Testamentum (1966), the International Review of Mission (1972), and the Indian Journal of Theology (1974) and cited in major works relating to the theme of Promise in the Bible and critical works on Psalms LXXX and the Hebrew word HOQ in the Tanakh.

Andhra Christian Theological College (ACTC) is a seminary in Telangana which was founded in 1964. It is affiliated with India's first university, the Senate of Serampore College (University), and has degree-granting authority under a Danish charter ratified by the government of West Bengal. ACTC is on the Hussain Sagar canal (north) in Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, about 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) from the Secunderabad Junction railway station.

Bishop T. B. D. Prakasa Rao was the fourth CSI-Bishop - in - Krishna-Godavari of the Protestant Church of South India who occupied the Cathedra placed at CSI-St. Paul's Cathedral, Vijayawada. The Bishopric of Prakasa Rao lasted for two decades from 1981 through 2001, one of the longest in the history of the Church of South India Society. Prakasa Rao led the bishopric of Krishna-Godavari that comprised the Christian missions established by the London Missionary Society (LMS) and the Church Missionary Society (CMS) which merged its South India Christian missions in India into the Church of South India Society which was inaugurated in 1947 at the CSI-St. George's Cathedral, Madras.

He is an agriculturalist, with his past experience in the development sector, continues to be in the forefront of the leadership of like-minded initiatives and is an elected member of the 10-member international governing council of the Society for International Development (SID).

Duggirala Gopalakrishnayya, was an Indian freedom fighter and member of the Indian National Congress from the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Known by his title of Andhra Ratna (Telugu: ఆంధ్ర రత్న, translates to "Jewel of Andhra" or "Gem of Andhra." Sri Duggirala Gopalakrishnayya, Gopalakrishnayya was the first Andhra leader to become secretary of the All India Congress Committee. Sri Duggirala Gopalakrishnayya, was a very captivating poet, speaker, songwriter, philosopher, singer and an extraordinary revolutionary with a philosophy of non-violence. Sri Nadimpalli Venkata Lakshmi Narasimha Rao worked in tandem with Sri Duggirala Gopalakrishnayya. For his exemplary work and sacrifices for freedom movement in Andhra, he was fondly conferred the name 'Andhra Ratna'

Acharya A. B. Masilamani or Abel Boanerges Masilamani (1914–1990) was a Golden Jubilee Baptist pastor and evangelist on whom parallels had been drawn comparing his ecclesiastical ministry with that of Saint Paul. The Mar Thoma Syrian Church, one of the Saint Thomas Christian Churches founded by Thomas the Apostle in the first century which holds the annual Maramon Conventions used to have Masilamani preach at its conventions since the 1970s. During one such Maramon Convention held in 1983 at Maramon, Masilamani was one of the main speaker who spoke on Christology in the presence of the two patriarchs of the Mar Thoma Church, Alexander Mar Thoma and Thomas Mar Athanius.

Rayi Ratna Sundara Rao was a prolific writer, theologian and comparative religion scholar who once was the principal of the Gurukul Lutheran Theological College, Chennai, affiliated to India's first university, the Senate of Serampore College (University).

S. E. Krupa Rao was a Baptist Pastor of the Convention of Baptist Churches of Northern Circars where he held leadership positions in the Church society whose area of operation extended from Srikakulam District in the northern circars along the Bay of Bengal right through seven districts up to Guntur District.

The Bible Society of India Telangana Auxiliary is located in Secunderabad which was bifurcated from the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh Auxiliary on 2 February 2016.

Sidda Raghava Rao is an Indian politician who is an ex-Minister for Environment, Forests, Science and Technology in the Andhra Pradesh cabinet. He earlier worked as a Minister for Transport, Roads & Buildings. Born in Chimakurthy of Prakasam district to Sidda Venkata Subbamma and Sidda Venkateswarlu, Raghava Rao grew up in a large family of eight brothers. He completed his schooling at Chimakurthy and went to Bapatla to pursue intermediate. He later graduated in Commerce from Andhra University in 1977. Raghava Rao joined the YSR Congress Party in June, 2020 after losing the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections from Ongole on a TDP ticket.

Bunyan Edmund Vijayam (1933–2019) was an Indian geologist with major contribution to the field of Geology. A 1958–1959 Technical Report of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research heralded the news that new developments had taken place in scientific matters led by a team of researchers at the Andhra University,

Nalla Thomas was an Asian Christian and a spiritual personality, who served the Church in Assam and undivided Andhra Pradesh for nearly four decades comprising the seventies through the New millennium. He used to compose hymns for enhancing spiritual direction. Thomas was an Ecclesiastical administrator of Samavesam of Telugu Baptist Churches Society.
