The Districts of Ghana are second-level administrative subdivisions of Ghana, below the level of region. There are 261 local metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies.
Techiman is a city and is the capital of Techiman Municipal and Bono East Region of Ghana. Techiman is a leading market town in South Ghana. Techiman is one of the two major cities and settlements of Bono East region. Techiman has a settlement population of 104,212 people in 2013. Techiman is located at a historical crossroads of trade routes and the Tano River, and serves as capital of the Techiman Municipal District.
The Brong-Ahafo region was a region in southern Ghana. Brong-Ahafo was bordered to the north by the Black Volta river and to the east by the Lake Volta, and to the south by the Ashanti, Eastern and Western regions. The capital of Brong-Ahafo is Sunyani. Brong-Ahafo was created on 14 April 1959 from the then Western Ashanti and named after the dominant and native inhabitants, Akans, Brong and Ahafo. In 2019, as a result of the 2018 Ghanaian new regions referendum, the region was divided into three, namely Bono, Bono East and Ahafo regions, and ceased to exist.

Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988 as Ahafo Ano North District, which was created from the former Ahafo Ano District Council; until it was elevated to municipal district assembly status to become Ahafo Ano North Municipal District on November 2017. The municipality is located in the western part of Ashanti Region and has Tepa as its capital town.
Pru District is a former district that was located in Brong-Ahafo Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Atebubu District on 10 March 1989, until the northern part was split off to create Pru District; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Atebubu-Amantin District, which it was elevated to municipal district assembly status on 15 March 2018 to become Atebubu-Amantin Municipal District. However on 15 March 2018, it was split off into two new districts: Pru East District and Pru West District. The district assembly was located in the east central part of Brong-Ahafo Region and had Yeji as its capital town.
Tain District is one of the twelve districts in Bono Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Wenchi District on 10 March 1989; until the western part of the district was split off to create Tain District on 12 November 2003 ; thus the remaining part has been retained as Wenchi District. Later, the northern part of the district was split off to create Banda District on 28 June 2012; thus the remaining part has been retained as Tain District. The district assembly is located in the northeast part of Bono Region and has Nsawkaw as its capital town.

Originally created as an ordinary district assembly on 10 March 1989 when it was known as Jaman District, which was created from the former Berekum-Jaman District Council. However on 12 November 2003, it was split off into two new districts: Jaman South District and Jaman North District. The district assembly was located in the western part of Brong-Ahafo Region and had Berekum as its capital town.
Asunafo District is a former district that was located in Brong-Ahafo Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988. However on 12 November 2003, it was split off into two new districts: Asunafo North District and Asunafo South District. The district assembly was located in the southwest part of Brong-Ahafo Region and had Goaso as its capital town.

The municipality is located in the eastern part of Ahafo Region and has Bechem as its capital town.

The municipality is located in the western part of Bono Region and has Berekum as its capital town.

Banda District is one of the twelve districts in Bono Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Tain District on 17 February 2004; until the northern part of the district was split off to create Banda District on 28 June 2012; thus the remaining part has been retained as Tain District. The district assembly is located in the northeast part of Bono Region and has Banda Ahenkro as its capital town.
The Ahafo Region is a newly created region in Ghana with Goaso as its capital. The region had administrative and governmental legislature like all the ten already existing regions in Ghana. The region was carved out of the south-eastern part of the Brong Ahafo Region and was in fulfillment of a campaign promise made by New Patriotic Party. Prior to the 2016 Ghanaian general election, the then candidate Nana Akufo-Addo declared that when elected, he would explore the possibility of creating new regions out of some of the existing regions in Ghana in order to bring government closer to citizens.
