Teasdale and Metcalfe was a company based in Wetherby, West Yorkshire, England, who specialised in the manufacturing of prefabricated buildings for industrial and agricultural use. The company had a large works off North Street in Wetherby. In the late 1970s this was developed into the Horsefair Shopping Centre. [1] Teasdale and Metcalfe buildings are recognisable as they carry a red and white oval plaque with the T&M logo on. Prior to manufacturing prefabricated buildings the company were dealers in agricultural equipment. [2]

The recorded history of Wetherby, a market town in the City of Leeds metropolitan borough, West Yorkshire, England, began in the 12th and 13th centuries when the Knights Templar and later the Knights Hospitallers were granted land and properties in Yorkshire. The preceptory founded in 1217 was at Ribston Park. In 1240 the Knights Templar were granted by Royal Charter of Henry III the right to hold a market in Wetherby. The charter stated the market should be held on Thursdays and an annual fair was permitted lasting three days over the day of St James the Apostle.

The school is notable for its use for filming The Beiderbecke Trilogy between 1984 and 1988. Demolition of the buildings began in December 2009 and was completed early in 2010.

The Leeds Blitz comprised nine air raids on the city of Leeds, the United Kingdom's third largest city, by the Nazi German Luftwaffe. The heaviest raid took place on the night of 14/15 March 1941, affecting the city centre, Beeston, Bramley and Armley. The city was subjected to other raids during the Second World War, but they were relatively minor; only the March 1941 raid caused widespread damage, including to the city's museum and its artefacts.
