Ted Swinford is an American rower. He won a gold medal at the 1986 World Rowing Championships in Nottingham with the men's coxless four. [1] He was inducted in the National Rowing Hall of Fame (Stoningham, CT) in January 1997. [2]

Swinford was bypassed in 1993 by the N5 route and was the first town in Mayo to be bypassed.

College Boat Club of the University of Pennsylvania is the rowing program for University of Pennsylvania Rowing, located at #11 Boathouse Row in the historic Boathouse Row of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It connects Swinford to Claremorris via Kiltimagh, and links the N5 and N26 roads near Swinford with the N60 and N17 roads near Claremorris. The R320 connects with six other regional roads along its route. The road is in three discontiguous segments which add up to 27.1 kilometres (16.8 mi) in length.

Zoe Stevenson is a New Zealand rower. She won gold in the women's double sculls with Fiona Bourke at the 2014 World Rowing Championships.

George Trimmer was an English professional rugby union player who played for Nottingham Rugby. Trimmer made his debut for Nottingham against Newcastle Falcons in 2016 before suffering a severe injury which meant that he could no longer run, and instead entered the Team GB Rowing Scheme.

Edward Officer Hale is an Australian former rower. He competed at the elite level over a fifteen-year period from 1970 to 1984, primarily as a sculler. He was a fourteen time Australian national champion - nine times in a single scull, four times in crewed sculling boats and once in a sweep oared pair. He won the New Zealand national single sculls championship in 1976. He represented at two World Rowing Championships and competed in the men's single sculls event at the 1976 Summer Olympics.
