Background

In 2006, Forever the Sickest Kids formed after lead vocalist Jonatha Cook spent several hundred dollars for a front-page song placement on PureVolume. [4] Without having any songs written yet, the band wrote "Hey Brittany" and recorded it in two days. The song garned the attention of Universal Motown Records who signed them in April 2007, leading up to the release of Television Off, Party On. [5]

Composition

The group recorded Television Off, Party On four months after signing with Universal Motown Records. [6] Working with producer Geoff Rockwell, the EP was recorded at Rockwell Audio, where Rockwell also engineered the EP, while mixing was handled by Dan Malsch. [7] The tracks "Believe Me, I'm Lying", "She's a Lady", and "Breakdown" were later re-recorded for their 2008 debut studio album Underdog Alma Mater . [8]

Joe DeAndrea of AbsolutePunk stated, "It's the type of feel good music that'll give you the urge to dance your little hearts out and even give people who are sick of the genre a reason to listen to." [9] Paul of Punktastic remarked, "The crux of the matter is by the summer of 2008 this lot will be Fall Out Boy big. So get on board now before your little brother or sister goes to see them at the local arena..." [1] Scene Trash described it as "your new not so guilty pleasure, because you'll play it for everyone you meet." [2]

Forever the Sickest Kids is the eponymous second studio album by American pop punk band Forever the Sickest Kids, released on March 1, 2011. It is their last release through Universal Motown Records, and also last to feature members Kent Garrison and Marc Stewart. Following the release of their 2009 EP The Weekend: Friday, the band worked on material for what was originally a continuation of the EP but instead wrote more songs than intended, and scrapped the idea to work on a second full-length record. The album received mixed reviews from critics who commended the band's attempt at maturity with diverse musicianship and catchability but found it inconsistent. Forever the Sickest Kids debuted at number 33 on the Billboard 200 and spawned three singles: "Keep On Bringing Me Down", "I Guess You Can Say Things Are Getting Pretty Serious" and "Summer Song".

None More Black was a New Jersey-based punk rock band on Fat Wreck Chords, formed by lead singer/guitarist Jason Shevchuk after the demise of his previous band, Philadelphia's Kid Dynamite. Shevchuk left Kid Dynamite so that he could finish film school, and "to sort some things out." While at school, Shevchuk had written some songs and would play them with his roommate Dan Gross, who had a Drum Machine. By 2000, they had a second guitarist and a real drummer. That lineup soon fell apart, but by 2001 Shevchuk and Gross had recruited Shevchuk's brother Jeff Shevchuk, along with a new drummer. After recording a 7" for Sub Division Records, that lineup fell apart as well, this time leaving only the two Shevchuks. In 2002 a solid lineup was established, featuring Paul from Kill Your Idols on bass. A demo was recorded, circulated, and the band went on to release their first full length on Fat Wreck Chords.
