Teresa Martinez is an American politician and Republican Majority Whip [1] for the Arizona House of Representatives,serving the 16th legislative district. [2] She was initially appointed to the seat in 2021 after incumbent Representative Bret Roberts resigned from office. In 2022,she was elected for a full term. [3]
Martinez was born and raised in Casa Grande,the heart of Pinal County. She is the oldest of 5 children and her dad was a miner at the San Manuel Mine. [4]
She has a long history working in politics,holding staff positions for two Members of Congress,Congressman Rick Renzi and Congressman Paul Gosar,and with the Arizona Secretary of State's office under Republican Michelle Reagan. [4] She also previously worked as political director for the Arizona Republican Party. [5]
Before getting into politics,Teresa worked as long-term substitute teacher at her alma mater Casa Grande Union High School for several years and at the Frito Lay factory in Casa Grande. [4]
The Arizona State House of Representatives is the lower house of the Arizona Legislature,the state legislature of the U.S. state of Arizona. The upper house is the Senate. The House convenes in the legislative chambers at the Arizona State Capitol in Phoenix. Its members are elected to two-year terms,with a term limit of four consecutive terms. Each of the state's 30 legislative districts elects two state house representatives and one state senator,with each district having a population of at least 203,000.
The 2006 congressional elections in Arizona were elections for Arizona's delegation to the United States House of Representatives,which occurred along with congressional elections nationwide on November 7,2006. Arizona has eight seats,as apportioned during the 2000 United States census. Prior to the election,Republicans held six of the eight seats and Democrats held two. In the 8th district,Republican Congressman Jim Kolbe retired,leaving an open seat. Following the elections,Democrats gained two seats at the expense of the Republicans,who lost two.

United States gubernatorial elections were held on November 2,2010,in 37 states and two territories. Paul Anthony Gosar is an American far-right politician and dentist who has represented Arizona's 9th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2023 and represented Arizona's 4th congressional district from 2013 to 2023. A Republican,he was elected in 2010 to represent the neighboring 1st congressional district until redistricting. Gosar's support of conspiracy theories,his extreme opposition to abortion and contraception,his alleged connections to Holocaust deniers,and his alleged ties to far-right militant groups such as the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers,have sparked controversy.

Rick Gray is an American politician and former member of the Arizona Senate as well as a former Republican member of the Arizona House of Representatives representing District 21. Gray previously served consecutively from January 10,2011,until January 14,2013,in the District 9 seat. In 2016,Gray ran for the ⠀⠀Arizona Corporation Commission⠀⠀seat Arizona Corporation Commissionbut placed fourth in the Republican primary. In 2018,Gray was appointed to fill the Arizona State Senate seat vacated by Debbie Lesko after she resigned to run for Congress. Gray would leave office on January 9,2023.
The 2020 United States Senate elections were held on November 3,2020,with the 33 class 2 seats of the Senate contested in regular elections. Of these,21 were held by Republicans,and 12 by Democrats. The winners were elected to 6-year terms from January 3,2021,to January 3,2027. Two special elections for seats held by Republicans were also held in conjunction with the general elections:one in Arizona,to fill the vacancy created by John McCain's death in 2018;and one in Georgia,following Johnny Isakson's resignation in 2019. Charlene Fernandez is an American politician who was the Democratic leader of the Arizona House of Representatives from 2019 to 2021. She was first elected to the state House in 2014 and represents Southwestern Arizona,specifically,the majority of Yuma County,western Pima County,southwestern Maricopa County and southwestern Pinal County. She resigned on November 15,2021 to take a position at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Her son Brian Fernandez was appointed by the Yuma County,Arizona Board of Supervisors to succeed her in the Arizona House of Representatives.

Andrés Cano is an American politician who served as the House Minority Leader in the Arizona House of Representatives from January to June 2023. Cano was in his third term,having represented District 20 (Tucson) since 2023,and District 3 from 2019 to 2023. Cano is a member of the Democratic Party. On May 6,2023,Cano announced his resignation both as House Minority Leader and as a Representative in the Arizona House of Representatives to attend the Harvard Kennedy School. His resignation from the House of Representatives was made official on July 4,2023.

During his tenure in the Arizona Senate,Chuck served as the majority leader of the Republican caucus. Before entering politics,he was a police officer for the city of Mesa,Arizona. Chuck is the author of Living the American Dream,a book published in 2013. He is the father of five children and currently resides in Queen Creek,Arizona.
A general election was held in the U.S. state of New Mexico on November 8,2016. A special election was held for Secretary of State,along with all seats in both houses of the New Mexico Legislature. Primary elections were held on June 7.
