The9 (stylized as THE9 or THE NINE) was a Chinese girl group formed through the IQIYI survival show Youth With You 2. The group consisted of Liu Yuxin, Yu Shuxin, Xu Jiaqi, Yu Yan, Xie Keyin, An Qi, Zhao Xiaotang, Kong Xueer and Lu Keran. [1] [2]
The9 was formed on May 30, 2020, and officially debuted on August 10, 2020. It was managed by Idol Youth Entertainment of iQIYI. [3] [4] The group was supposed to disband on November 30, 2021, but they disbanded on December 5, 2021.
The9 was formed through the reality television show Youth with You 2 , which aired from March 12 to May 30, 2020. It was the third season of the Idol Producer franchise. Out of 109 trainees from different companies, only the top 9 most voted trainees in the final episode got to debut in the final group.
On May 30, 2020, the final lineup was eventually announced. Liu Yuxin placed 1st, Esther Yu Shuxin came in 2nd, followed by Kiki Xu Jiaqi, Yu Yan, Shaking Chloe Xie Keyin, Babymonster An Qi, Zhao Xiaotang, Snow Kong Xue'er, and K Lu Keran in 9th place respectively. Since having earned 1st place, XIN Liu Yuxin was chosen as the center of the group. [5] [6]
On May 30, 2020, The9 was formed following the finale of Youth with You Season 2 and their training began the day after. Apart from training, they also filmed for several variety shows such as "My Little Forest". On June 17, 2020, they participated in Hunan Television's 618 Super Night to perform "Yes! OK!" and "Hunt", marking The9's first public performance. On July 4, 2020, the official Weibo account for the group released a video of the members selecting their team leader, revealing to be Babymonster An. They also revealed other details such as their fandom name, fandom colors as well as their hand sign.
On July 10, 2020, the group attended the "Current Business Conference" and announced their appointment as "Advance Officer for Edge Art." [7]
The group has also done many commercials as well as editorials for magazines and high-end fashion houses. Xu Jiaqi, a former member of Chinese girl group SNH48's Team SII as well as a current member of the SNH48 sub-unit 7Senses, performed at SNH48's 7th Request Time Senbatsu General Elections as a guest.
The group released their first extended play, Sphinx X Mystery (斯芬克斯X谜), on August 10, 2020. [8] The EP consists of the lead single "SphinX" (斯芬克斯) as well as another song titled "Not Me". The EP sold over 150,000 units in less than 45 minutes; it also won the "Double Platinum" rating. [9] The music video for SphinX was released on August 15 via Weibo and YouTube. They promoted their EP through performances at variety shows and through music shows such as 818 Super Night. The group then announced their first variety show called “Let’s Party 2020” which would be released on iQIYI. The group released their debut studio album MatriX (虚实X境) on December 25, 2020 [10] which features the lead single "Dumb Dumb Bomb" and nine solo tracks.
On December 31, The9 participated in the 2021 Jiangsu Satellite TV New Year's Eve concert. [11]
From March 26–27, 2021, The9 held their first online concert titled "X-CITY," which garnered tens of thousands of viewers. The concert utilized XR technology to create realistic stage backgrounds. [12]
On June 9, 2021, the group released their first anniversary EP entitled RefleXtion. The EP consists of two tracks: "Hello" and "Xenogeneic". The group officially disbanded on December 5, 2021.[ citation needed ] Though the group had plans to hold a graduation concert, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these shows have been indefinitely halted.[ citation needed ]
On August 19–20, 2022, The9 held their first reunion concert since disbandment at the Harbin International Convention Exhibition and Sports Center. [13]
On October 27–28, 2023, the group held their second reunion concert at the Nanjing Youth Olympic Sports Park. [14] [15]

SNH48 is a Chinese idol girl group based in Shanghai. Following AKB48's creator Yasushi Akimoto's concept of "idols you can meet", the group features dozens of female members around the age of 20, who perform regularly in the group's own theater and interact with fans predominantly via the official Pocket48/口袋48 App online and offline via theater and handshake events. There are over 200 female members across SNH48 and all its sister groups including GNZ48, BEJ48, CKG48, CGT48 and IDOLS Ft. The group is owned by Chinese companies NineStyle and Star48. Established in 2012, it parted ways with AKB48's groups in June 2016.
Hua Chenyu is a Chinese rock singer and songwriter. He gained widespread recognition for his music talent, strong vocal ability and stage performance after participating in Singer 2018. One of the critics from the show states that Hua Chenyu has brought the Chinese pop music to a new level of art after his cover performance of 《Fake Monk》(假行僧). Addicted, also known as Heroin, is a 2016 streaming television series based on the boys' love novel Are You Addicted? (你丫上瘾了) by Chai Jidan. The series is about two sixteen-year-old boys, Bai Luo Yin and Gu Hai, who despite their social differences and personal history forge a close love relationship. Starring Xu Weizhou and Huang Jingyu in their television debut, it premiered on January 29, 2016, and aired for three episodes weekly until February 23, 2016, when it was banned by Chinese authorities. The series' groundbreaking success and its subsequent ban brought attention to the taboo topic of homosexuality in mainland China. The series has since developed a cult following.
Xu Jiaqi is a Chinese singer, rapper, dancer, songwriter, and actress. She was a member of Team SII of the female idol group SNH48 as well as its sub-units Style-7 and 7Senses, and she was also a member of the temporary girl group, THE9. In 2020, she participated in Youth with You 2 and got 3rd place, securing her place in THE9. She is also known for her role in the television series Legend of Yunxi (2018) as well as her leading role in The Blooms at Ruyi Pavilion (2020) as Fu Xuan.
Lu Keran, better known by her stage name K, is a Chinese singer and dancer. She is the leader of girl group Fanxy Red. She is also a former member of Chinese girl group The9 after finishing ninth in iQIYI's survival reality program Youth with You 2.
Nine Percent was a nine-member Chinese boy group formed by the survival show Idol Producer by iQIYI on April 6, 2018. The group promoted for 18 months since formation.

Her album "Epsilon" and "Xanadu" tops Chinese billboards. Xin is also the very first female captain of Street Dance of China.

Produce Camp, officially known as Chuang, is an idol reality television talent competition franchise created by Chinese entertainment conglomerate Tencent, based on the South Korean franchise Produce 101. It is the officially sanctioned spin-off of the original South Korean Produce 101 franchise, and CJ E&M is listed as one of the production companies for each season of Chuang. In contrast, iQiYi's rival idol survival show franchise Idol Producer, which features a nearly identical show format, was never officially sanctioned by CJ E&M, and caused CJ E&M to accuse iQiYi of plagiarism and copyright infringement.
