The Academy in Peril is the second solo album by Welsh musician John Cale, released in July 1972 by record label Reprise.
Like his previous release, the Terry Riley collaboration Church of Anthrax , it is mostly instrumental. As the title suggests, the album was inspired by Cale's classical training.
"Temper", an outtake from the recording sessions, was later released on the promotional compilation Troublemakers. It was also released on the Seducing Down the Door compilation. [2]
The cover concept and art was designed by Andy Warhol.
The Academy in Peril was released on 19 July 1972. "Days of Steam" b/w "Legs Larry at Television Centre" was released as a single in New Zealand and was also issued as a promo in the US.

The Velvet Underground & Nico is the debut studio album by the American rock band the Velvet Underground and the German singer Nico. Chelsea Girl was produced by Tom Wilson, who added string and flute arrangements against the wishes of Nico. The title is a reference to Andy Warhol's 1966 film Chelsea Girls, in which Nico starred.

Drella was a nickname for Warhol coined by Warhol superstar Ondine, a contraction of Dracula and Cinderella, used by Warhol's crowd but never liked by Warhol himself. Originally released as a double LP, the cover artwork and inside gatefold sleeve feature imitations of Andy Warhol's paintings of Coca-Cola bottles, but are credited to other artists on the back sleeve of the album. The album was released in the UK to capitalise on the interest from Warhol's Pork.
