The Situation Room, also formerly known as The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer, is an American news broadcast hosted by news anchors Wolf Blitzer and Pamela Brown. The show has aired on CNN since August 8, 2005.

Contents

The show currently airs weekdays live from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ET from CNN's studios in Washington, D.C.

Until March 2025, the program would air in an early evening broadcast, [1] with Blitzer serving as the sole host.

A Saturday edition, recapping the news of the week, was produced from 2008 to 2013. It was cancelled as Blitzer would anchor the 1:00 p.m. hour of CNN Newsroom.

History

In January 2021, CNN announced that The Situation Room would be shortened from two hours to one hour at 6 p.m. ET, with The Lead with Jake Tapper expanding into what was formerly its first hour. [2]

On January 23, 2025, it was announced that The Situation Room would be moved to 10:00 a.m. ET and return to a two-hour format in March 2025, displacing hours of CNN Newsroom that had been hosted by Jim Acosta and Pamela Brown respectively. Brown will join the program as a co-anchor. [3] [4] The show would start airing in the new time slot on March 3, 2025. [5]
