The Street Profits are an American professional wrestling tag team consisting of Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford. The team is currently performing in WWE on the Raw brand.

They are three-time tag team champions in WWE, having held the Raw, SmackDown, and NXT Tag Team Championship once each, which also makes them one of only two teams (the other being The Revival), to be Tag Team Triple Crown Champions in WWE. They had a combined 312-day reign as tag team champions on both the Raw and SmackDown brands.

History

Early years (2016–2019)

The team of Angelo Dawkins and Kenneth Crawford debuted on the March 16, 2016 episode of NXT , (taped on January 21), where they were defeated by The Hype Bros. [1] The team would continue to work at house shows.

On the July 12, 2017 episode of NXT, Crawford (now renamed Montez Ford) and Dawkins started appearing in weekly vignettes as The Street Profits. On the August 9 episode of NXT, they made their return by defeating The Metro Brothers. [2] The Street Profits would go on a winning streak, defeating the likes of The Ealy Twins, Riddick Moss and Tino Sabbatelli, and local wrestlers. On January 17, 2018, The Street Profits suffered their first loss to The Authors of Pain (AOP) (Akam and Rezar), failing to earn a NXT Tag Team Championship match at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia. [3] [4] Later on, they entered the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, where they would defeat Heavy Machinery (Tucker Knight and Otis Dozovic) in the first round, but were eliminated by AOP in the semifinals. The Street Profits once again entered the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic in 2019, but were defeated by Moustache Mountain (Trent Seven and Tyler Bate) in the first round.

Tag team championship reigns (2019–present)

On the May 1, 2019 episode of NXT, The Viking Raiders (Erik and Ivar) vacated the NXT Tag Team Championship, but were immediately challenged by The Street Profits. The match ended in a disqualification after The Forgotten Sons and Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch got involved. [5] A four-way tag team ladder match for the NXT Tag Team Championship was later scheduled for NXT TakeOver: XXV between The Street Profits, Lorcan and Burch, The Forgotten Sons, and The Undisputed Era (Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish). At NXT TakeOver: XXV, they won the NXT Tag Team Championship for the first time. [6] On the July 10 episode of NXT, Street Profits made their first successful title defense against Lorcan and Burch, but on the August 15 tapings of NXT, they would lose the NXT Tag Team Championship to O'Reilly and Fish.

Starting on July 1, The Street Profits started appearing on Raw doing various backstage segments, a move that was said to be done in order to appeal to younger audiences. It was clarified by Dave Meltzer that the team were still NXT wrestlers and that this was not an official move to Raw. [7] As part of the 2019 Draft in October, The Street Profits were drafted to the Raw brand, officially bringing them to the show. On the October 21 edition of Raw, The Street Profits defeated Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson in their debut match. At Survivor Series, The Street Profits competed in a 10-team Interbrand Tag Team Battle Royal where they were the last team eliminated by the eventual winners, Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode. [8] The team would hardly wrestle on Raw during their first few months on the main roster but mostly spent time backstage hyping up the shows. This was being done because Paul Heyman (who was executive director of Raw at the time) wanted to get their personalities out more to help them get more over with the fans, in front of a wider audience which ended up working for all parties involved later on.

On the December 9 episode of Raw, The Street Profits answered an open challenge for a title bout issued by Raw Tag Team Champions The Viking Raiders, where The Viking Raiders retained. Four weeks later, The Street Profits were given another shot at the Viking Raiders' tag team titles, this time in a triple threat match that also involved Gallows and Anderson where The Viking Raiders retained once again. [9] On the February 17, 2020 episode of Raw, after Kevin Owens and The Viking Raiders defeated Murphy and AOP via disqualification due to Seth Rollins' interference, The Street Profits came out and aided Owens and The Viking Raiders by attacking Murphy and AOP while Rollins retreated. [10] Later, The Street Profits were scheduled to challenge Rollins and Murphy for the Raw Tag Team Championship at Super ShowDown, [11] where they would be unsuccessful. [12]

On the March 2 episode of Raw, The Street Profits were given a final opportunity "Last Chance Match" rematch, where, with the help of Kevin Owens, they would go on to win the Raw Tag Team Championship. [13] Later backstage, Rollins and Murphy challenged them to a rematch for the titles at Elimination Chamber, [14] where the Street Profits retained the titles. They retained their titles again by defeating Angel Garza and Austin Theory on night two of Wrestlemania 36. On the May 4 episode of 'Raw' they lost in a non-title match to the Viking Raiders. In the following weeks, The Street Profits would feud with The Viking Raiders as they faced each other in several competitions such as a game of basketball, axe-throwing, golf, bowling, and a decathlon which was later dubbed as the "Anything You Can Do, We Can Do Better" series. The series would end with a 3–3 tie between the Street Profits and The Viking Raiders. [15] At Backlash, The Street Profits were set to face the Viking Raiders, but the match did not start due to them brawling outside the building, being accosted by Akira Tozawa and a group of ninjas, and ending up in a dumpster. [16] On the June 22 episode of Raw, The Street Profits successfully defended their Tag Team Titles against The Viking Raiders thus ending the feud. [17] They then defended their titles against Andrade and Angel Garza successfully at SummerSlam [18] and again at Clash of Champions. [19]

As part of the 2020 Draft in October, Dawkins and Ford were drafted to the SmackDown brand. [20] They would then trade the Raw Tag Team Championship to The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) - who had just been drafted to the Raw brand - in exchange for the latter team's SmackDown Tag Team Championship. [21] This would make The Street Profits the second team to acquire the WWE Tag Team Triple Crown. [22] [23]

Upon moving to SmackDown, they began a feud with the team of Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode. On the December 18 edition of SmackDown, The Street Profits successfully defended the titles against Roode and Ziggler. On the January 1 edition of SmackDown, The Street Profits held a celebration while calling out Ziggler and Roode in the process, leading to an assault on The Street Profits by Ziggler and Roode. The following day on Talking Smack, it was announced that The Street Profits would be defending the SmackDown Tag Team Championship again the following week. On the January 8 edition of SmackDown, Ziggler and Roode defeated The Street Profits to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, ending their reign at a recorded 88 days. On the February 26 edition of SmackDown, the Street Profits defeated Sami Zayn and King Corbin in a tag team match. On April 9 and April 16, 2021, The Street Profits unsuccessfully challenged for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles one of which was in a Fatal 4 Way whilst the other being their rematch clause against Ziggler and Roode. On the June 11 episode of SmackDown, Ford suffered a partial rib fracture from Otis. It was announced that Ford would be out of action for months. After Ford's injury, Dawkins started to appear in singles matches against Otis.

As part of the 2021 Draft, The Street Profits were drafted to the Raw brand. [24] [25] At Day 1 on January 1, they challenged RK-Bro (Randy Orton and Riddle) for the Raw Tag Team Championships in a losing effort. [26] At Royal Rumble, Ford and Dawkins entered the Royal Rumble match at #6 and #10, respectively, but would both go on to lose. [27]

Evolve (2018–2019)

On October 28, 2018, The Street Profits made their first appearance at Evolve 114, winning the Evolve Tag Team Championship by defeating The Doom Patrol (Chris Dickinson and Jaka). [28] [29] They would successfully defend the titles against the likes of The WorkHorsemen, AR Fox and Leon Ruff, Austin Theory and Harlem Bravado, and The Skulk. At Evolve 123, they lost the titles to The Unwanted. On March 16, 2019, they made their final Evolve appearance as a tag team at Evolve 124, teaming with Velveteen Dream to defeat The Unwanted in a six-man tag team match.

Other media

The Street Profits made their video game debut as playable characters in WWE 2K19 [30] and have since appeared in WWE 2K20 [31] and WWE 2K22 [32] .

Personal lives

Dawkins was born Gary Gordon on July 24, 1990. He is from Fairfield, Ohio and was an amateur wrestler at Harper College. In July 2020, Dawkins announced via Twitter that he had become a father to a baby boy. He is a supporter of the Cincinnati Bengals. [33]

Ford was born Kenneth Crawford on May 31, 1990. He is from Chicago, Illinois and served in the United States Marine Corps. Ford is married to fellow professional wrestler Bianca Belair, and has two children from a previous relationship. [34]

Levi Rolla Cooper is an American professional wrestler, best known for his time in WWE, where he performed under the ring name Tucker. After signing with WWE in 2013, he was assigned to their developmental brand NXT, under the ring name Tucker Knight. He is best known for his partnership with Otis, as part of Heavy Machinery. They were promoted to WWE's main roster in 2019, and disbanded in 2020 as a result of the WWE Draft.

Survivor Series (2019) WWE pay-per-view and WWE Network event

The 2019 Survivor Series was the 33rd annual Survivor Series professional wrestling event produced by WWE. It was held for wrestlers from the promotion's Raw, SmackDown, and NXT brand divisions. The event aired on pay-per-view (PPV) and the WWE Network and took place on November 24, 2019, at the Allstate Arena in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont, Illinois. It was the first and only to include the NXT brand, the first Survivor Series since 2009 to feature three major brands, and the first to feature three-way Survivor Series elimination matches. The theme of the event was brand supremacy and pitted wrestlers from the three brands against each other.

The 2020 Royal Rumble was the 33rd annual Royal Rumble professional wrestling event produced by WWE. It was held for wrestlers from the promotion's Raw and SmackDown brand divisions. The event aired on pay-per-view (PPV) and the WWE Network and took place on January 26, 2020, at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas.

The 2019 WWE Draft was the fourteenth WWE Draft produced by the American professional wrestling promotion WWE between their Raw and SmackDown brands. Returning to its original name and a traditional draft format, it was the second draft of 2019, following April's Superstar Shake-up. The draft began on the October 11 episode of Friday Night SmackDown and concluded on the October 14 episode of Monday Night Raw, with SmackDown airing on Fox and Raw on the USA Network. It was the first draft in which the brand's television networks were presented as having an influence over WWE's drafting decisions.

Clash of Champions (2019) WWE pay-per-view and WWE Network event

The 2019 Clash of Champions was the third Clash of Champions professional wrestling event produced by WWE. It was held for wrestlers from the promotion's Raw, SmackDown, and 205 Live brand divisions. The event aired on pay-per-view (PPV) and the WWE Network and took place on September 15, 2019, at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. As per the theme of the event, all championships available across the Raw, SmackDown, and 205 Live brands at the time were defended.

Super ShowDown (2020) WWE pay-per-view and WWE Network event

The 2020 Super ShowDown was the third and final Super ShowDown professional wrestling event produced by WWE. It was held for wrestlers from the promotion's Raw and SmackDown brand divisions. The event aired on pay-per-view (PPV) and the WWE Network and took place on February 27, 2020, at the Mohammed Abdu Arena on the Boulevard in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It was the fifth event that WWE held in Saudi Arabia under a 10-year partnership in support of Saudi Vision 2030. Until Crown Jewel in October 2021, it was the last event held by WWE in Saudi Arabia, as the COVID-19 pandemic began severely restricting travel only weeks after Super ShowDown, with WWE holding all shows behind closed doors until July 2021.

Elimination Chamber (2020) WWE pay-per-view and WWE Network event

The 2020 Elimination Chamber was the 10th Elimination Chamber professional wrestling event produced by WWE. It was held for wrestlers from the promotion's Raw and SmackDown brand divisions. The event aired on pay-per-view (PPV) and the WWE Network and took place on March 8, 2020, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

WrestleMania Backlash (2021) WWE pay-per-view and Peacock/WWE Network event

The 2021 WrestleMania Backlash was the 16th Backlash professional wrestling event produced by WWE. It was held for wrestlers from the promotion's Raw and SmackDown brand divisions. The event aired on pay-per-view (PPV) worldwide and was available to stream through Peacock in the United States and the WWE Network internationally, which made it the first Backlash to air on Peacock. It took place on May 16, 2021, from the WWE ThunderDome, hosted at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida—it was WWE's first pay-per-view to present the ThunderDome from the Yuengling Center during the COVID-19 pandemic, following a four-month residency at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. From 1999 to 2009, the concept of the Backlash pay-per-view was based around the backlash from WWE's flagship event, WrestleMania. The 2021 event returned Backlash to this original position as the post-WrestleMania PPV, and it was in turn renamed to "WrestleMania Backlash" as it was based around the backlash from WrestleMania 37.

2020 WWE Draft WWEs intra-brand draft

The 2020 WWE Draft was the 15th WWE Draft produced by the American professional wrestling promotion WWE between their Raw and SmackDown brand divisions. The two-night event began on the October 9 episode of Friday Night SmackDown and concluded on the October 12 episode of Monday Night Raw. Both shows were broadcast from the WWE ThunderDome, hosted at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, with SmackDown airing on FOX and Raw on USA.

Friday Night SmackDown: Season 2 Premiere was a special episode of WWE's weekly television program SmackDown that took place on October 16, 2020, and commemorated the program's second season's premiere. It was broadcast live on Fox, and marked the 1-year celebration of return to Friday nights.

The Mysterios are an American professional wrestling tag team composed of Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik Mysterio. The team is currently performing in WWE on the Raw brand. They are one-time WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions, which made them the first father and son team to have won a tag team championship in WWE.
