Synopsis
As the station prepares for Delenn's planned attack on Z'ha'dum, Ivanova suggests that she and Marcus see if they can find any more allies from the First Ones by investigating any odd sightings in nearby sectors with a White Star. Delenn also goes to seek Lyta's help, only to discover that the Vorlon ambassador has forced her to give up all her possessions save a mattress to sleep on. Delenn asks Lyta to follow up on her requests for help from the Vorlons, and if she can figure out what the Vorlon's long term plan is. When Lyta tries to ask the Vorlon ambassador what their plan is, he strikes her with telekinetic force, wounding her. While waiting for her fleet to amass, Delenn learns that several members of the non-aligned worlds plan to lead a revolt against Delenn's plan to convince others to drop out. Knowing it would be wrong to deny them their ability to voice their concerns, Delenn instead starts trying to determine where this rally will take place so she may also speak.
Meanwhile, Zack follows up on information relayed by Marcus from G'Kar about Garibaldi's whereabouts. They are able to track a mercenary ship that supposedly had come upon Garibaldi's ship. Zach takes a shuttle, escorted by a Starfury, to locate the ship but are attacked when they find it. They fire back slightly damaging it. In response, the ship launches an escape pod and then is destroyed. Zach is remorseful that they destroyed the ship, but is surprised when they find that Garibaldi is inside the pod. They race him back to Babylon 5 for medical care.
On Centauri, both Mollari and Vir become concerned as Emperor Cartagia treats G'Kar as a court jester, and tries to make G'Kar cry out in pain. Mollari tries to convince G'Kar to satisfy Cartagia's whims; otherwise Cartagia will likely kill him. While G'Kar's death will make him appear as a martyr, Mollari convinces him he has more valve to both of them alive. Later, in front of Mollari and Vir, Cartagia subjects G'Kar to a electrowhip that increases in strength with each lash. Mollari mouths to G'Kar to give in, and just before the final lethal lash G'Kar cries out in pain--satisfying Cartagia.
In hyperspace, Marcus discovers a pocket of hyperspace. They take the White Star into the pocket and discover a fleet of thousands of Vorlon ships, including a miles-wide mothership. However, they quickly lose track of it. They return to the station, and Ivanova orders the station attendant to monitor for any activity in a nearby sector where the Vorlon ships may emerge from hyperspace. They also learn of an unknown craft on course for Babylon 5. Just as the rally of the non-allied world starts, the ship uses Babylon 5 security codes to dock. Security personnel, including Garibaldi and Zack, rush to secure the landing bay, but are shocked that its passenger is Sheridan, whom they thought dead, stepping out along with Lorien. At the rally, just as it starts to turn violent, Sheridan steps up and explains how he was able to not only survive Z'ha'dum but kill several Shadows, convincing the non-allied worlds to join with Delenn's plan. Delenn rushes up to greet Sheridan.
Sheridan gathers with his war council and explains what he has learned from Lorien, that they are trapped in the middle of a war between the Shadows and the Vorlons. Just then they receive word that the Vorlons have emerged in the sector Ivanova was scanning, attacking a known Shadow base there. However, they are shocked to learn that the Vorlons not only destroyed the base, but the entire planet, including the millions that lived on it. They fear that the Vorlons will wipe out any contaminated species in this area of space to make sure the Shadows are defeated.
