Theotima is a genus of small spiders in the family Ochyroceratidae. [1]
Oonopidae, also known as goblin spiders, is a family of spiders consisting of over 1,600 described species in about 113 genera worldwide, with total species diversity estimated at 2000 to 2500 species. The type genus of the family is OonopsKeyserling, 1835.
Linyphiidae is a family of very small spiders comprising 4667 described species in 618 genera worldwide. This makes Linyphiidae the second largest family of spiders after the Salticidae. The family is poorly known; new genera and species are still being discovered throughout the world. The newest such genus is Yuelushannus from China, formally described in May 2020. Because of the difficulty in identifying such tiny spiders, there are regular changes in taxonomy as species are combined or divided.
Ochyroceratidae is a six-eyed spider family, with 165 described species in ten genera. They are common inhabitants of caves and the tropical forest litter of South Africa, the Caribbean, Asia and South America. Considered an ecological counterpart of the Linyphiidae of the northern temperate zone, species are especially diverse in the Indo-Pacific region.
Mysmenopsis is a kleptoparasitic genus of tiny tropical and subtropical American spiders in the family Mysmenidae. Most live in the funnelwebs of spiders in the family Dipluridae. M. archeri lives on webs of a species in the family Pholcidae, M. capae and M. cienga have been observed living in Cyrtophora (Araneidae) webs. One reason why diplurid webs are preferred seems to be that they are persistent in time and space, sometimes spanning several years.
Scytodes is a genus of spitting spiders that occur all around the world. The most widely distributed species is Scytodes thoracica, which originally had a palearctic distribution, but has been introduced to North America, Argentina, India, Australia, and New Zealand. The genus was first described by Pierre André Latreille in 1804. Spitting spiders have pale yellow bodies with black spots on their cephalothorax, and legs that are characterized by black bands.
Hogna is a genus of wolf spiders with more than 200 described species. It is found on all continents except Antarctica.
Allocosa is a spider genus of the wolf spider family, Lycosidae. The 130 or more recognized species are spread worldwide.
Agyneta is a genus of dwarf spiders that was first described by J. E. Hull in 1911.
Mysmena is a genus of spiders in the family Mysmenidae, found in many parts of the world.
Speocera is a genus of six eyed spiders in the family Ochyroceratidae, containing fifty one species.
Ochyrocera is a genus of midget ground weavers that was first described by Eugène Louis Simon in 1892.
Eustala is a genus of orb-weaver spiders first described by Eugène Simon in 1895.
Metagonia is a genus of cellar spiders that was first described by Eugène Louis Simon in 1893.
Xenoctenidae is a family of araneomorph spiders separated from Miturgidae in 2017.
