The Community

This small rural Nova Scotia town has a hair salon, sports arena, a school (Thorburn Consolidated School), a few churches and a fire hall. It is home to several farms and is also the hometown of actor Mike Smith, who plays the character Bubbles on the Canadian television show Trailer Park Boys as well as Aaron Cameron of the City TV series Seed (TV series) [1] . Mike Smith (actor) Canadian actor, musician, born 1972

Michael Smith is a Canadian actor, comedian and musician born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, and raised in Thorburn. He is best known for his portrayal of "Bubbles" and co-writer of the ongoing cult classic television program, films and stage production Trailer Park Boys. He was also the guitarist for the Canadian rock band Sandbox. Smith earned a degree in English from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. For a short time in 2006, he was engaged to actress Nichole Hiltz.

Trailer Park Boys is a Canadian mockumentary television series created and directed by Mike Clattenburg. The show focuses on the misadventures of a group of trailer park residents, some of whom are ex-convicts, living in the fictional Sunnyvale Trailer Park in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The television series, a continuation of Clattenburg's 1999 film of the same title, premiered on Showcase in 2001. There are three films in the series: The Movie, released on October 6, 2006; Countdown to Liquor Day, released on September 25, 2009; and Don't Legalize It, released on April 18, 2014.

North Nova Education Centre (NNEC) is a Canadian high school in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. It serves roughly 1200 students from the eastern side of Pictou County. It is administratively part of the "Celtic Region" of the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board. The school's official colours are blue and white. It teaches a broad variety of materials, from traditional academics, to the Fine Arts, to Co-Op courses. The school is also active in sports and extracurricular activities. In addition, NNEC is one of schools involved in Nova Scotia International Student Program. They host international students from other countries such as China, Japan, Germany, Turkey, Brazil and South Korea etc. They provide multi-courses even special help for foreign students to adopt local education and Canadian lifestyles. Each school year, there are two student ambassadors here to help international students and organize events to give them lots of memorable memories in Nova Scotia. This school also offers a program called CEP. This better prepares students who are planning on going straight into the work force rather than going to university.
