Charles Jean-Baptiste Amyot was a French lawyer and entomologist especially interested in the Hemiptera.

Jean-Jacques Kieffer was a French naturalist and entomologist who specialised in the study of parasitic insects. Educated as a priest, Kieffer taught natural science in Bitche, Lorraine while working on the description and classification of insects. His work and publications later became a predominant source of description and classification for entomologists in the early 20th century, in particular with regard to parasitoid wasps, midges, and mosquitos.

Charles Donckier de Donceel was a Belgian entomologist mainly interested in Lepidoptera. He wrote (1882) Catalogue des Lépidoptères de Belgique. Annales de la Société entomologique de Belgique 26: 5-161 and many short papers on insects in the same journal. He was a Member of the Royal Belgian Entomological Society.

Charles Boursin (1901–1971) was a French entomologist, born into a comfortable bourgeois Catholic family in Nantes. Having had a German governess, he spoke German from his earliest days and remained "perfectly" bilingual in both during his lifetime. He also spoke Hungarian and Russian. Despite his formal humanist education he showed an early interest in the natural sciences.
