Timo Tapio Marjamaa (born 27 June 1976) is a Finnish sports executive and a former professional footballer who played as a defender. Marjamaa is currently the chief executive officer of Finnish top-tier league Veikkausliiga, having started in the position in November 2010.
Marjamaa was born in Lahti and played in a youth sector of local club FC Kuusysi, before making his senior debut with the club's first team in Veikkausliiga in the 1995 season. During his career, he represented FC Lahti, FC Jokerit, AC Allianssi [2] and HJK Helsinki [3] in Finland in Veikkausliiga, and briefly played in Turkish Süper Lig with Yimpaş Yozgatspor in 2002. [4] [5] Marjamaa ended his professional playing career after the 2007 season due to consecutive knee injuries. [6] [7] He played a total of 199 Veikkausliiga matches, scoring 13 goals [8] and winning the Finnish Cup championship with HJK in 2006. [9]
A former youth international, [10] Marjamaa was capped six times for Finland national football team in friendly matches during 2000–2001, scoring one goal against Sweden. [11]
After retiring as a player, Marjamaa graduated MBA in the University of Helsinki School of Economics in November 2007. [12] In his master's thesis, he studied the image of Finnish football. [13] He also worked in a bank sector, before he was appointed the chief executive officer of the top-tier Finnish football league Veikkausliiga in November 2010. Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi, commonly known as HJK Helsinki, or simply as HJK, is a Finnish football club based in Helsinki. The club competes in Veikkausliiga, the top division of the Finnish football league system. Founded in 1907, the club has spent most of its history in the top tier of Finnish football. The club's home ground is the 10,770-seat Bolt Arena, where they have played their home games since 2000.
Petri Pasanen is a Finnish football coach, TV studio presenter and a former professional footballer who played as a defender. He was most comfortable as centre-back, but also played right-back and left-back as well. Pasanen began his senior career in his native Finland before moving to Ajax. He spent most of his career at Bundesliga club Werder Bremen which he represented in the UEFA Champions League in multiple seasons, and in the 2009 UEFA Cup Final.
