Tinpahar is a bimonthly, bilingual (English and Bengali) Indian online magazine that promotes art, literature, and culture with the motto, "Free and Fertile".
The magazine was established by Arkajit Mandal and Siddharth Sivakumar. The idea of Tinpahar was developed from Resonance, a magazine edited by Siddharth and published by Patha Bhavana and Visva Bharati. It was launched on 14 September 2012.
Tinpahar has special columns dedicated to comparative literature, arts, and gender studies in India. [1]
Tinpahar aspires to erase the boundaries between discrete academic disciplines of literature, linguistics, philosophy, sociology, history, anthropology, art history and so on in order to create a "free and fertile" space for constructive discourses on/in humanity. [2] Recently Tinpahar has initiated a programme to support enthusiastic groups engaged in serious cultural endeavours by making them websites for free. The upcoming Tamil website of Tinpahar will act as a platform for students to express themselves on matters of humanities, arts, music, and literature. [3] [4]
In 2014, Tinpahar was the publishing partner of the Poetry Slam hosted by the Literary Society, Presidency University. [5] In 2015 Tinpahar became one of the Online Media Partners of the Festember festival. [6]
K. Satchidanandan (1946) is an Indian poet and critic, writing in Malayalam and English. A pioneer of modern poetry in Malayalam, a bilingual literary critic, playwright, editor, columnist and translator, he is the former editor of Indian Literature journal and the former secretary of Sahitya Akademi. He is also social advocate for secular anti-caste views, supporting causes like environment, human rights and free software and is a well known speaker on issues concerning contemporary Indian literature. He is the festival director of Kerala Literature Festival.
Festember is a cultural festival organised at National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (NITT). It is a 4-day event held annually in the third week of September. It was first incepted in 1975 by then students of NITT, and has now evolved to be one of the largest cultural festivals organised by a student community in Southern India. With humble beginnings as a fest with zero rupee budget allocation, it grew rapidly with sponsorships and collaborations. It now boasts an annual participation of more than 15,000 students from over 500 collegiete student communities across India.

Sundara Ramaswamy was an Indian novelist, poet, translator and literary critic, widely considered to be a pre-eminent figure in post-Independence Tamil literature. He was born in 1931 in Thazhuviya Mahadevan Kovil, a village in Nagercoil, then part of the princely state of Travancore. He grew up in Kottayam and, later, central Travancore until the age of eight, when his family moved to Nagercoil. He continued his schooling there, but was generally considered to be a poor student. His notable works include "Oru Puliyamarathin Kathai", "J.J. Sila Kuripugal" and "Kuzhanthaigal", Pengal, Aangal. He was a key figure in Tamil modern literature. The translations of his novels and short stories have brought him international acclaim. Sundara Ramaswamy has been praised for his versatility and his skillful negotiation of various literary forms: poetry, short fiction and the novel.
