Tomb of Tharo Khan is the tomb of Tharo Khan Talpur, located in Mirpur Khas, in Sindh, Pakistan. The tomb is related to the Tombs of Talpur Mirs complex, built in the eighteenth century in the city of Hyderabad. The tombs are of the ruling Talpur Mirs of Sindh.

Location

The tomb is located in Chitorri Graveyard outskirts of Mirpur Khas, in present-day southern Pakistan. The tomb of Mir Tharo Khan is located to the west of Mir Allah Yar Khan's mausoleum. [1]

Present condition

The tombs are in a dilapidated condition. Erosion was made all over the complex due to the entry of water, damaging the tombs. [1]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Mir Sher Muhammad Talpur</span> Emir of Talpur dynasty

Mir Sher Muhammad Talpur was a Talpur prince who belonged to the Mirpur Khas house of the royal Talpur dynasty. The son of Mir Ali Murad Talpur, the founder of Mirpur Khas, he was born in 1810. After becoming ruler of the Talpur dynasty, his reign saw a conflict with the British East India Company, who launched an invasion of the province of Sindh under the auspices of General Charles James Napier, aiming to annex the entire region. On 24 March 1843, troops under his command fought against a Company force in the Battle of Hyderabad; the British emerged victorious, and captured the city of Hyderbad soon after. Talpur then retreated into the countryside, where forces loyal to him and equipped largely with muskets waged a guerrilla campaign against the British, whose efforts to counter this led Napier to coin the word "counterinsurgency". He eventually died on 24 August 1874.

Mir Ali Murad Talpur, known as the Aadil-i-Jang, was the second ruler of the Mankani Talpur state of Mirpurkhas. He founded Mirpurkhas town in 1806 and made it the capital of his state which was founded by his father, Mir Tharo Khan Talpur at Keti Mir Tharo. His state included territories of the present day southeastern Sindh. His son, Mir Sher Muhammad Talpur waged a guerrilla campaign in Sindh against the East India Company after the British victory at the Battle of Hyderabad on February 1843, which resulted in Hyderabad falling under British control.

His Highness Mir Tharo Khan, Sitara-i-Jang, was the founder of the Mankani Talpur state in southeastern Sindh. Talpurs defeated Kalhora rulers and founded their rule over Sindh. Mir Tharo Khan Talpur participated in the Battle of Halani against Kalhoras. However, when Mir Fateh Ali Talpur started rule from Hyderabad (Sindh), HH Mir Tharo Khan Talpur went to southeastern Sindh and founded a state under his own crown, which was called the state of Mir Pur Khas in 1784, located at Keti Mir Tharo.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Talpur dynasty</span>

The Talpur dynasty were rulers based in Sindh. Four branches of the dynasty were established following the defeat of the Kalhora dynasty at the Battle of Halani in 1783: one ruled lower Sindh from the city of Hyderabad, another ruled over upper Sindh from the city of Khairpur, a third ruled around the eastern city of Mirpur Khas, and a fourth was based in Tando Muhammad Khan. The Talpurs were ethnically Baloch. For most of their rule, they were subordinate to the Durrani Empire and were forced to pay tribute to them.

Shahpur Chakar is a small town proximate to the city of Shahdadpur in the Sanghar District of Sindh province, Pakistan. It is located at an altitude of 17 m (56 ft). The word "Shahpur" comes from an Iranian language which means "a virile, dynamic and resourceful man, who possesses a certain charm of which he is entirely conscious". The city was named after four renowned saints who came to this town and laid down its historic foundation. Consequently, its four colonies are specified on the names of these mystic saints. The Tombs of Talpur Mirs are a complex of tombs of the ruling Talpur Mirs of Sindh who reigned from 1784 to 1843. The tombs are also known as Cubbas. These tombs are located in Hirabad, Hyderabad in the Sindh province of Pakistan.

Sujawal, town is headquarter of Sujawal district of Sindh. Previously, it was Sub Divisional Headquarter of Sujawal Sub Division of Thatta District, Sindh, Pakistan. The Government of Sindh has granted Sujawal the status of a district and after the approval of Chief Minister Sindh, a notification has been issued by Revenue Department on 12 October 2013. The new district would comprise Sujawal, Kharochan, Mirpur Bathoro, Jati and Shah Bander talukas. It is located at about 20 km west of Thatta on the road Badin to Karachi. Sujawal is an agricultural city with a few industries located near it. Sujawal is a multi community and ethnic city containing different sects and religions.

Naukot Fort is a fortification that was established by Mir Karam Ali Khan Talpur in 1814. It is situated in Mithi Taluqa, Tharparkar District, approximately 64 km in the south of Mirpur Khas town, Sindh. Its location gave it its other common name, "The Gateway to the Thar Desert". It is meant to guard the area against the Rajputs.

Mir Ali Bakhsh Khan Talpur was a politician and social reformist from Sindh, Pakistan. He was elected as member of National Assembly of Pakistan in 1970. He joined Baloch Movement in 1973 and then Awami Tahreek of Rasool Bux Palijo. He supported Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah against Field Marshal Muhammad Ayoob Khan, the Milirary dictator of Pakistan. He also opposed General Zia's Marshal Law. Despite owning thousands of acres of agricultural land, he spent his life trying to provide solace to the dirt-poor masses of Sindh.
