AEC as the predecessor of TrustPort
TrustPort was preceded by the AEC (an abbreviation of Association for Electronics and Computers), founded in 1991. AEC was specialized in the area of data security and already in 1993 developed its own security software. Original AEC software products from the 1990s were generally branded as IronWare (included solutions for a file encryption, network communications protection, electronic mail encryption, etc.). These early products became foundation stones of the future software of the TrustPort brand.
The software gradually became known as IronWare Security Suite. In September 2000, based on previous contract between AEC and Norman ASA, the IronWare Security Suite product rights and development passed into the ownership of Norman, and the software was renamed to Norman Security Suite. AEC became a business partner of Norman for selling of this software. In 2002, AEC once again started with its own software production and introduced DataShredder, TrustMail, and TrustPort Encryption at the Cebit computer expo. DataShredder was designed for irreversible deletion of sensitive data, TrustMail for encryption and signing of data, TrustPort Encryption for file encryption, applicable both with personal computers, and with mobile devices.
In 2003, AEC launched its TrustPort Certification Authority, the first certification authority in the Czech Republic, which supported trusted timestamping. In the same year, a second version of TrustMail was released, implementing the timestamping technology. Also a comprehensive security solution started to be shaped. The idea was to build unified software, integrating different elements, essential for computer security, like antivirus software, antispam, Firewall, or cryptography; at the same time, both personal computers and server computer were to be protected. This was originally named TrustPort Phoenix Rebel.
It was completed in 2005 and after dividing into three main products it became known as TrustPort Workstation, TrustPort Internet Gateway and TrustPort WebFilter.
TrustPort's gaining of independence
In November 2007, an acquisition agreement between AEC and Cleverlance was signed. Cleverlance as the new owner of AEC made a strategic decision to form a standalone company out of the AEC development department. In March 2008, the new company with the name TrustPort was officially established with Jiří Mrnuštík as the first chief executive officer. AEC became a TrustPort reseller.
Later that year, two major changes were made in TrustPort product portfolio. TrustPort Workstation was renamed to TrustPort PC Security, in order to align the product name with the products of competing companies. And TrustPort Antivirus was established as a standalone specialized product for an essential antimalware protection.
Since the foundation of TrustPort as a standalone company, business partnerships were established or reinforced with important distributors around the globe, e.g. in United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, India, Mexico, Colombia, Spain, France etc.. Nowadays, TrustPort offers software for home users, small offices and middle and large companies specializing in data and network security and protection and these are successfully used by home users and companies all around the world.

Antivirus software, or anti-virus software, also known as anti-malware, is a computer program used to prevent, detect, and remove malware.
Sophos Group plc is a British security software and hardware company. Sophos develops products for communication endpoint, encryption, network security, email security, mobile security and unified threat management. Sophos is primarily focused on providing security software to the mid market and pragmatic enterprise from 100- to 5,000-seat organizations. While not a primary focus, Sophos also protects home users, through free and paid antivirus solutions intended to demonstrate product functionality. It was listed on the London Stock Exchange until it was acquired by Thoma Bravo in February 2020.
Internet security is a branch of computer security specifically related to not only Internet, often involving browser security and the World Wide Web, but also network security as it applies to other applications or operating systems as a whole. Its objective is to establish rules and measures to use against attacks over the Internet. The Internet represents an insecure channel for exchanging information, which leads to a high risk of intrusion or fraud, such as phishing, online viruses, trojans, worms and more.
ESET NOD32 Antivirus, commonly known as NOD32, is an antivirus software package made by the Slovak company ESET. ESET NOD32 Antivirus is sold in two editions, Home Edition and Business Edition. The Business Edition packages add ESET Remote Administrator allowing for server deployment and management, mirroring of threat signature database updates and the ability to install on Microsoft Windows Server operating systems.
Norton AntiVirus is an anti-virus or anti-malware software product, developed and distributed by Symantec Corporation since 1991 as part of its Norton family of computer security products. It uses signatures and heuristics to identify viruses. Other features included in it are e-mail spam filtering and phishing protection.
Norton Internet Security, developed by Symantec Corporation, is a computer program that provides malware prevention and removal during a subscription period and uses signatures and heuristics to identify viruses. Other features included in the product are a personal firewall, email spam filtering, and phishing protection. With the release of the 2015 line in summer 2014, Symantec officially retired Norton Internet Security after 14 years as the chief Norton product. It is superseded by Norton Security, a rechristened adaptation of the Norton 360 security suite.
McAfee VirusScan is an antivirus program created and maintained by McAfee, Inc.. It is not available as a standalone package, but is included in McAfee LiveSafe, McAfee AntiVirus Plus and McAfee Total Protection. Additionally, BSkyB and McAfee have previously produced a "Sky Broadband" branded version of VirusScan, offered free to Sky Digital customers upon broadband modem installation. McAfee LiveSafe integrates antivirus, firewall and anti-spyware/anti-ransomware capabilities.

Ewido Networks was a software company based in Germany known for creating Ewido Anti-Spyware. Ewido Anti-Spyware was software used to remove malware such as spyware, trojan horses, adware, dialers, and worms. It also featured real-time protection, automatic updates, and other privacy features. Ewido had both a free version, and a paid version which added realtime protection, and automatic updates.

Bitdefender is a Romanian cybersecurity and anti-virus software company. It was founded in 2001 by Florin Talpeș who is currently the CEO. Bitdefender develops and sells anti-virus software, internet security software, endpoint security software, and other cybersecurity products and services.
Kaspersky Internet Security is an internet security suite developed by Kaspersky Lab compatible with Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. KIS offers protection from malware, as well as email spam, phishing and hacking attempts, and data leaks. Kaspersky Lab Diagnostics results are distributed to relevant developers through MIT.
VirusBuster Ltd. was one of the few Hungarian it-security software vendors. The fully Hungarian owned company develops products – under the same brand name: "VirusBuster" – for the Hungarian and international market to protect users' computers from malware programs and various other IT-security threats. In August 2012, VirusBuster Ltd. announced the cancellation of its anti-virus products. [1] After VirusBuster was shut down, the entire developing and malware analyst team joined Sophos.
K7 Total Security, developed by K7 Computing Pvt. Ltd., is a malware prevention and antivirus software, and provides malware prevention and removal during a subscription period and uses signatures and heuristics to identify viruses. Other features include a software firewall, e-mail spam filtering and phishing protection.
Trend Micro Internet Security is an antivirus and online security program developed by Trend Micro for the consumer market. According to NSS Lab comparative analysis of software products for this market in 2014, Trend Micro Internet Security was fastest in responding to new internet threats.
G Data CyberDefense AG is a German software company that focuses on computer security. The company was founded in 1985 and is headquartered in Bochum. They are known for being the creators of the world's first antivirus software. G Data use multiple scanning engines; one is developed in-house and the other is the BitDefender engine. G Data provides several security products that are targeted at home and business markets. The company has a North American subsidiary located in Atlanta, Georgia.
Avast Antivirus is a family of cross-platform internet security applications developed by Avast for Microsoft Windows, macOS, Android and iOS. The Avast Antivirus products include freeware and paid versions that provide computer security, browser security, antivirus software, firewall, anti-phishing, antispyware, and anti-spam among other services.
Norton, formerly known as Norton by Symantec, is a division of NortonLifeLock, and is based out of Mountain View, California. Since being acquired by the Symantec Corporation in 1990, Norton offered a variety of products and services related to digital security. In 2014, it was announced that Norton's parent company Symantec would split its business into two units - one focused on security, and one focused on information management, with Norton being placed in the unit focused on security.
