Tullinge is a suburb of Greater Stockholm, Sweden. It is located in the eastern part of Botkyrka Municipality, on the border to the Flemingsberg part of Huddinge Municipality. It had approximately 20,000 inhabitants in 2011. [1]

Tullinge has become known for the Airforce airfield (F18), now closed down and mostly turned into student apartments.

Tullinge is a part of Stockholm commuter rail, which was built in 1968.

Climate

The weather station of Tullinge is located in a frost hollow outside the urban heat island of Stockholm at the old Airforce airfield and regularly sees significantly colder night temperatures compared to the other stations in Stockholm as a result of that. Tullinge has a humid continental climate (Dfb) with a high diurnal range, and a relatively low amount of precipitation as is typical of south-eastern Sweden.

History

Tullinge was first mentioned in connection with the literary peasant Clauus i þulunge, this happened on May 26, 1353 when he did a soil replacement in Botkyrka. This is mentioned in a legal document from the Svarta Löts ting.

The remains of two prehistoric hillforts are present near Tullingesjön: Skansberget and Örnberget. In the 19th century several artifacts from the Bronze Age and Iron Age were found, including one collection named Tullingeskatten (Tullinge treasure) which included two axes and a shard.[ citation needed ]

When western main line was drawn through Tullinge at the end of the 1800s there were no station Tullinge, but when they built the track to double in 1903, they also built a bus stop. 1917 was upgraded to the bus stop station. Tullinge station was moved 1.5 kilometers northeast associated with the building of the new center in Tullinge. The location of the new station was more accessible to residents, and the new location allowed more apartment buildings and townhouses could be built.

Tullinge has a rich sporting life with many sports clubs. Tullinge also has sportgrounds BrantBrinks IP and Lida outdoor facility which is the hub of Tullinge Sport.

Märsta is a suburb of Metropolitan Stockholm, a locality and the seat of Sigtuna Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden with 27,034 inhabitants in 2015. The town is situated close to Stockholm's main international airport, Arlanda. Even though its origins go back to around 500 AD, Märsta is a widespread modern residential area. Märsta has a mix of multi-storey dwellings and smaller houses. It is in a phase of expansion and new residential areas are built both in central parts of Märsta and in the surrounding areas like for instance Steningehöjden. Märsta can be reached by Stockholm commuter rail trains running at quarterly intervals during daytime and by bus from Stockholm Arlanda Airport. The central parts of Märsta has a shopping area "Märsta Centrum" with various shops, pub and restaurants. Another smaller shopping area is "Valsta Centrum". East of the central parts of Märsta there is an industrial area and a bit further east close to the airport a shopping mall "Eurostop". Fittja gård is a former manor, coaching inn and station for post riders in Fittja, Botkyrka Municipality, Stockholm County, east-central Sweden. Fittja Värdshus, attached to it, was one of the largest travellers' hostels in Sweden during the 17th and 18th centuries. From 1660 to 1916 the Tingsrätt for the Svartlösa Hundred was located on the estate, and the present Fittja gård dates to 1812. According to the Stockholm County Museum, the buildings are well-preserved and valued as a cultural heritage. Fittja gård is the headquarters of a mångkulturellt centrum founded in 1987.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Tumba railway station</span>

Tumba is a station on the Stockholm commuter rail in Tumba, Botkyrka Municipality, Sweden, approximately 23 km from Stockholm C, between the stations of Tullinge and Rönninge. The station consists of two platforms with a ticket hall with entrance from a pedestrian bridge and was introduced in its present form in the year 1994. In 2019, the number of passengers boarding on an average weekday was estimated at 9,500.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Blue line (Stockholm metro)</span>

The Blue line is one of the three Stockholm metro lines. It is 25.5 kilometres long, and runs from Kungsträdgården via T-Centralen to Västra skogen where it branches in two, and continues to Hjulsta and Akalla as lines 10 and 11 respectively.
