Osteopathy is a pseudoscientific system of alternative medicine that emphasizes physical manipulation of the body's muscle tissue and bones. In most countries,practitioners of osteopathy are not medically trained and are referred to as osteopaths.

Andrew Taylor Still was the founder of osteopathic medicine. He was also a physician and surgeon,author,inventor and Kansas territorial and state legislator. He was one of the founders of Baker University,the oldest four-year college in the state of Kansas,and was the founder of the American School of Osteopathy,the world's first osteopathic medical school,in Kirksville,Missouri.
Forrest Clare "Phog" Allen,D.O. was an American basketball coach and physician. Known as the "Father of Basketball Coaching," he served as the head basketball coach at Baker University (1905–1908),the University of Kansas,Haskell Institute—now Haskell Indian Nations University (1908–1909),and Warrensburg Teachers College—now the University of Central Missouri (1912–1919),compiling a career college basketball record of 746–264. In his 39 seasons at the helm of the Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball program,his teams won 24 conference championships and three national titles.
The American Osteopathic Association (AOA) is the representative member organization for the more than 176,000 osteopathic medical doctors (D.O.s) and osteopathic medical students in the United States. The AOA is headquartered in Chicago,Illinois,and is involved in post-graduate training for osteopathic physicians. Beginning in 2015,it began accrediting post-graduate education as a committee within the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education,creating a unified accreditation system for all DOs and MDs in the United States. The organization promotes public health,encourages academic scientific research,serves as the primary certifying body for D.O.s overseeing 18 certifying boards,and is the accrediting agency for osteopathic medical schools through its Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation. As of October 2015,the AOA no longer owns the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP),which accredited hospitals and other health care facilities.

Nova Southeastern University Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-KPCOM) is a private medical school in Davie,Florida. It is an academic division of Nova Southeastern University. The college was founded in 1981 as the only osteopathic medical school located in the Southeastern United States at the time. It confers the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree and is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association's Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation.

DO and Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees are equivalent:a DO graduate may become licensed as a physician or surgeon and thus have full medical and surgical practicing rights in all 50 US states. As of 2021,there were 168,701 osteopathic physicians and medical students in DO programs across the United States. Barbara Ross-Lee,D.O. is an American physician,academic,and the first African-American woman to serve as dean of a U.S. medical school;she is also known as the sister of Diana Ross along with being the aunt of actress Tracee Ellis Ross,and singer-songwriters Rhonda Ross Kendrick and Evan Ross. She majored in biology and chemistry at Wayne State University,graduating in 1965. Then,in 1969,she entered Michigan State University's College of Osteopathic Medicine. Ross-Lee then went on to open her own private family practice,teach as a professor,and hold other positions within the medical community. In 1993,she was elected as the first woman dean of a medical school,at Ohio University's Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. She has earned several awards and honors for her work and accomplishments.

The 2022 Indiana Senate election took place on Tuesday November 8,2022 with elections in the U.S. state of Indiana,coinciding with other elections in the state,U.S. House,and Indiana House,as well as various other state and local elections. Voters will elect members to 25 of the 50 seats in the Indiana Senate to serve four-year terms in single-member constituencies. The primary election took place on Tuesday May 3,2022. The Republican Party has held a majority since 2011.
