It is one of the two major political alliances in Kerala, the other being Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left Democratic Front, each of which has been in power alternately since 1980 E. K. Nayanar ministry. Most of the United Democratic Front constituents are members of the Indian National Congress-led United Progressive Alliance at pan-India level.

Jaleel is an Indian politician from Kerala and a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Thavanur and has served as Minister of Higher Education, Welfare of Minorities, Waqf and Hajj in the Left Democratic Front (LDF) -led ministry. He was first elected to Kerala Legislative Assembly in 2006. He was an Associate Professor of History at P. S. M. O. College, Tirurangadi. Oru Mexican Aparatha is a 2017 Indian Malayalam-language political drama film directed by Tom Emmatty. The film stars Tovino Thomas, Neeraj Madhav, and Roopesh Peethambaran. It was released on 3 March 2017 in India. The movie was a blockbuster at the box office and served as a major breakthrough for Tovino Thomas as it established him as one of the biggest leading star in Malayalam cinema.

V. P. Sanu is an Indian politician who is currently the National President of the Students' Federation of India, the students' wing of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). He is also a member of the Kerala state committee of the CPI(M). He contested the parliamentary election in 2019 polls and 2021 by-polls representing CPI(M) in Malappuram, Kerala against IUML and lost both times.

A. Sujanapal was an advocate, social worker and Indian National Congress politician from Kerala, India. He represented Kozhikode North Assembly constituency in 9th and 11th Kerala Legislative Assembly. He was the Minister of Forests and Environment in the Kerala Cabinet in first Oommen Chandy ministry. He wrote several books including travelogues.

K. P. Sankaran is a Malayalam–language literary critic from Kerala, India. Born on 15 May 1939 in Painkulam in Trichur district of the erstwhile Kingdom of Cochin, he was a teacher at Changanacherry S.B. College, Trichur Kerala Varma College and Mysore Regional Institute of Education from where he retired in 2001. He resides with his wife Kamala Devi in Kottapparambu near Chelavoor, Calicut since 2019. He has authored around 30 books.
