K. C. Venugopal (born 4 February 1963) is an Indian politician who is a Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha elected from Alappuzha Lok Sabha constituency and former member of parliament in Upper House and is a member of the Indian National Congress. [1] [2] He has been appointed a General Secretary of AICC and in charge of Karnataka on 29 April 2017. Later, he was given additional charge of the general secretary of the organization. He was the Minister of State for Civil Aviation & Ministry of Power in the UPA Government. [3]
K. C. Venugopal was born on 4 February 1963 to Kunjukrishnan Nambi and Janaki Amma in Payyanur, Kannur District of Kerala. [4]
He came to active politics through the Student Movement of the Indian National Congress. He became the State President of the Kerala Students Union and State President of the Indian Youth Congress, He was elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly from Alappuzha Constituency in 1996, 2001 and 2006. [5] [6] [7] He served as the Minister for Dewaswom and Tourism in the Oommen Chandy Ministry from 2004-06. He contested the General Elections to Loksabha from Alappuzha Constituency in 2009 and was elected. [8]
On 29 April 2017, he was chosen as general secretary of All India Congress Committee. He also was made in charge of Congress War Rooms in many elections. He was elected from Rajasthan as a Member of parliament Rajya Sabha on 19 June 2020. [9]

He has been appointed as a member of the Coordination Committee of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance at its Mumbai convention on 1 September 2023. [10] [11] The coordination committee will decide the national agenda, common campaign issues and common program of the country's main opposition alliance (I.N.D.I.A.).
E. Balanandan was an Indian politician and a trade union leader from the Kerala State of India. He had been a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist)'s politburo since 1978. Born in Sakthikulangara, Kollam district, he was the son of Kunjiraman Channar and Unnikaali Easwari. His wife Sarojini Balanandan was a former CPI(M) State Committee member.
Although India is a parliamentary democracy, the country's politics has become dynastic or with high level of nepotism, possibly due to the absence of party organizations, independent civil-society associations which mobilize support for a party, or centralized financing of elections. The dynastic phenomenon is present at the national, state, regional, and district level. The Nehru–Gandhi family has produced three Indian prime ministers, and family members have largely led the Congress party since 1978. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also has several dynastic leaders. Mohammed Salim is an Indian politician, who is the incumbent State Secretary in West Bengal of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). He was inducted in the politburo of CPI(M) in the 21st party congress organised at Visakhapatnam in 2015. He was a Member of the 16th Lok Sabha, representing Raiganj constituency. Earlier, he was a member of the 14th Lok Sabha, representing the Calcutta North East constituency of West Bengal. Kannoth Muraleedharan is an Indian National Congress politician. He was the MP from Vatakara, Kerala. He is the son of Congress leader K. Karunakaran. He was elected as an MP from Kozhikode constituency and from Vatakara constituency (2019). He was elected as an MLA from Vattiyoorkkavu constituency. He lost the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Thrissur constituency.

P. K. Sreemathy, popularly known as P. K. Sreemathy Teacher, is an Indian politician and a member of the CPI(M). Born at Mayyil Panchayat in Kannur district, Sreemathy was elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly in 2001 and 2006 from Payyanur Assembly constituency. She was the Health and Family Welfare Minister of Kerala from 2006 to 2011. She was MP of 16th Lok Sabha, representing Kannur Lok Sabha constituency.

P. Jayarajan is a member of the CPI(M) Kerala state committee and former member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly who represented Koothuparamba constituency from 2001 to 2011. He served as the secretary of CPI(M) Kannur District Committee from 2010 until he was replaced by M.V. Jayarajan in March 2019. In March 2019 he was named the LDF candidate from Vatakara for the 2019 Indian General Elections.
