União Desportivo da Janela (Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: Union Disportibo da Janela Santo Antão Crioulo: Unyão Dsportib' da Janela (or Jnela)) is a football club that had played in the Premier division and plays in the Santo Antão Island League North Zone in Cape Verde. It is based in the village of Janela, in theeastern part of the island of Santo Antão near the island's easternmost point .

The Alfabeto Unificado para a Escrita do Caboverdiano, commonly known as ALUPEC, is the alphabet that was officially recognized by the Cape Verdean government to write Cape Verdean Creole.

Cape Verde or Cabo Verde, officially the Republic of Cabo Verde, is an island country spanning an archipelago of 10 volcanic islands in the central Atlantic Ocean. It forms part of the Macaronesia ecoregion, along with the Azores, Canary Islands, Madeira, and the Savage Isles. In ancient times these islands were referred to as "the Islands of the Blessed" or the "Fortunate Isles". Located 570 kilometres (350 mi) west of the Cape Verde Peninsula off the coast of Northwest Africa, the islands cover a combined area of slightly over 4,000 square kilometres (1,500 sq mi).

Janela, Cape Verde Settlement in Santo Antão, Cape Verde

Janela is a settlement in the eastern part of the island of Santo Antão, Cape Verde. It is situated on the Atlantic coast, 4 km southeast of Pombas and 14 km northeast of the island capital Porto Novo The central village, Pontinha, lies on a rocky peninsula. More villages are situated in the valley of the river Ribeira da Janela. The national road from Porto Novo to Pombas (EN1-SA03) passes through Janela.

History

The date of the foundation of the club is not understood.

Janela participated in the Santo Antão Island League for the first time in the 2011-12 season after it became a registered club. The club finished in the last three positions and was relegated into the newly formed Second Division for the next two seasons. Janela was one of three clubs that took part in the regional Second Division in 2013.

Janela spent in the Second Division for a season and became the first placed club of that division out of the three they competed. Janela returned into the Premier Division for the next three seasons.

In the 2014 season, Janela had the lead in the first week after defeating Rosariense 3-2 and had the most goals scored that round, Janela had a scoreless draw with Os Foguetões in the second round and Paulense later took the lead. Janela had a four match losing streak and their position dropped to fifth, then fourth d Janela's last win of the season came in the seventh round and became third, at the final round, lost a position and finished fourth. The last two seasons had their positions waned but had the same two wins, Janela lost the first four matches before they got one of two wins for the club on February 28, Janela got their last win in the Premier Division to date where they defeated Solpontense 2-0 on March 19. In total, Janela had 8 points in 2016. The final season they spent was awful for the club, but Janela only got four draws out of ten matches. Their first three matches had a goal draw, at the seventh round, their last draw also a goal each was made with Beira Mar, one of two with that club. Janela finished last place and was relegated. Janela will spend the following season in the Second Division.

Another withdrawal of Irmāos Unidos and Sāo Pedro Apóstolo got a chance for returning into the Premier Division for the following season, their first season was a bye week, Janela was second in their first ever challenge with Torreense, then Solpontense lost to Janela at round 3, then their first loss to Torrense at the fifth round, and their chance of ever returning fallen. A draw without goals with Solpontense was next and at round 8, completely lost their return to the Premier Division and will spend another season in the Second Division.

In the 2017-18 cup, they defeated Torrense and headed to the first round where it ended in a scoreless draw, after extra time, they defeated Solpontense 5-4 in the penalty shootout and participated in the semis on February 25 and lost to Rosariense.

Estádio João Serra is a multi-use stadium in of Ponta do Sol, Cape Verde. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 2,000. The stadium has seat rows in the south side and is located south of the town center. Every club of the Santo Antão Premier and Second Division including Janela plays at the stadium along with Rosariense, Paulense, Beira Mar and Os Foguetões. Also the stadium is home to Solpontense.

Estádio João Serra is a multi-use stadium in Santo Antão, Cape Verde. Its location is south of the urban area. It is near the foot of the island's northern mountains and is nearby a newly built urban area. The stadium is operated by the Santo Antão North Regional Football Association (ARFSAN) and has its offices there. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Solpontense as well as Irmãos Unidos, other football clubs from the north of the island not based in the town play at the stadium including Paulense from Paul and Sinagoga located between Ribeira Grande and Paul and other parts of the two northern municipalities. The stadium holds 2,000 people. It is named for João Serra, its size is 100x65 m and its grass is artificial.

Paulense Desportivo Clube

Paulense Desportivo Clube is a football club that had played in the Premier division and plays in the Santo Antão Island League North Zone in Cape Verde. It is based in the town of Pombas, the seat of Paúl in the northeastern part of the island of Santo Antão and is being the main club of Vale do Paul. Its current manager is Alberto Teixeira. Its nickname is Encarnados, the same nickname of Portugal's S.L. Benfica and many other clubs affiliated to Benfica. Since the introduction of the Second Division in the 2012-13 season, the club are one of two that have never been relegated, the other is Os Foguetões.

As Janela together with the east of the municipality has no football field, their main home stadium is Campo de Coqueiral, located in the city center just west of the Atlantic which has no seats, it sits with the main road (Estrada de Vale de Paul) connecting Ribeira Grande and Porto Novo (EN1-SA01) via Janela, though primarily trains at that field.
