The Sargodha university (SU) (Urdu : یونیورسٹی آف سرگودھا) is a public university based in Sargodha, Punjab, Pakistan.


It was founded in 2002 by an ordinance of the Punjab government. The main campus is located in Sargodha. University has one satellite campus located in Bhakkar. Its first acting chairman was Vice-Chancellor Riaz-ul-Haq Tariq. [1] Former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sargodha, Dr. Muhammad Akram Chaudhary has been awarded best Vice-Chancellor of any university in Pakistan. The university has seven faculties and above 150 degree programs, of which 69 are postgraduate programs, 50 Graduate programs and 32 undergraduate programs. Around 180 educational institutions are affiliated to the university. [2]


De'Montmorency College was established at Shahpur Sadr in 1929, Later it was renamed to Government College Sargodha, at Shahpur before independence. The college was shifted to Sargodha in 1946.

In 1987–88, postgraduate classes were introduced at the college in the disciplines of English, Urdu, mathematics, physics, chemistry, economics, Islamic studies, history.

Sargodha University has specialised in the production of miracles.

University research projects include cooking oil with increased shelf life and a patented project called ‘A Herbal Antioxidant System for Chewing Gum Stability’. The university has established an international-level medical diagnosis center and introduced mineral water with the name of ‘Khus Aab’ (Persian for Pleasant Water), which it exports to Abu Dhabi. A Researcher "Dr. Amin" at the university produced a new version of the Paracetamol (Solvent free synthesis of paracetamol) tablet that is not as injurious to the liver, using the hepatoprotective effects of Rheum australe (R. emodi) roots and their aqueous and methanolic extracts. [4] A student of pharmacy developed a herbal formulation which has enhanced the shelf-life of oils to one calendar year, without any loss in nutritional attributes. A paper she wrote on the subject was published in an international journal, garnering wide acclaim. [5] Farhat Batool; a law student, topped in athletics among all national universities. The university is one of only three centers in Pakistan for X-ray crystallography and also harbours an Electron microscope, another rare find in the country.

Divisions of the university

The University of Sargodha maintains seven primary faculties, which include Agriculture, Social and Arts and Humanities, Science, Engineering, Healthcare science, and Pharmacy.

University College of Engineering & Technology

UCET was established in 2013 with the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Electrical Engineering. Later in 2014 the Department of Civil Engineering was started. Programs are accredited by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).

Community Service programs

Social responsibility is one of the core values of Sargodha University. It has been rendering community service through various initiatives, including free consultancy service to local farmers under an outreach program; providing safe drinking water to faculty, staff and students; instilling rainwater to increase underground water table through aquifer recharge wells, and offering free corneal transplantation at DHQ Sargodha. The Telemedicine Centre, currently operating from the Facilitation Centre, will soon be shifted to the adjoining block, where the University Medical and Research Centre were already offering OPD medical services besides running a model university pharmacy for the people of Sargodha city.

University of Rajshahi Second Largest University of Bangladesh

The University of Rajshahi, also known as Rajshahi University or RU (Bengali: রাজশাহী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়. The university's 60 departments are organised into ten faculties. Rajshahi University is in a 305-hectare campus in Motihar, 3 kilometres from the Rajshahi city centre. University of Lahore

The University of Lahore or UOL is a private university located in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. It was founded at collegiate level in 1999 under the IBADAT Educational Trust and was granted full degree awarding status in 2002. It is one of the Largest Private universities in Pakistan. Subjects include Medicine, Engineering, Arts and Social Sciences. All programs are recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and government regulatory bodies in Pakistan. It is accredited by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), Pakistan Bar Council, Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), Pakistan Nursing Council, Pharmacy Council of Pakistan.

Hamdard University

Olabisi Onabanjo University Nigerian university

Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye is a state university in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, Nigeria. The university was founded July 7, 1982 as Ogun State University (OSU) and was renamed Olabisi Onabanjo University on May 29, 2001 in honour of Chief (Dr.) Olabisi Onabanjo, whose efforts as the then civilian governor of Ogun State gave birth to the university.
