Unlistenable Hymns of Indulgent Damage is the debut album by American metal band Angel Rot, released on April 23, 1999, by Man's Ruin Records. The album was recorded in 1993 but delay in releasing the sessions occurred when the master tapes were lost. [1] [2]

Eduardo Rivadavia of AllMusic awarded Unlistenable Hymns of Indulgent Damage three out of five stars, praising the guitar work but criticizing the songwriting as lackluster. He called it "one of the most unique-sounding and grammatically challenged stoner rock albums issued in 1999, even by the underground genre's already unconventional standards." [3] Impact Press also criticized the vocal performances but generally agreed on the music being enjoyable. [4]

Thomas Neil Guay, more commonly known by his stage name Tom Five, is an American guitarist who joined heavy metal band White Zombie while studying art at Parsons School of Design which he attended from 1985 to 1989. Guay is more widely known as Tom Five, reportedly because his style "sounded like five guitarists playing at once". He played guitar for the metal band Angel Rot from 1988 to 2003, releasing the album Unlistenable Hymns of Indulgent Damage in 1999. He was also performed in the band Sonic Medusa and in the Black Sabbath tribute band Rat Salad. He currently plays guitar for the Los Angeles band Triple T.

Times of Grace is the sixth studio album by Californian band Neurosis, released on May 4, 1999. It continued the band's development of the post-metal genre and demonstrates gothic rock and progressive rock influences. Down for the Count is the seventh studio album by the American heavy metal band Y&T, released in 1985 by A&M Records. The album marks the band's change to a lighter sound to find success in the hair metal scene. It contains the band's biggest hit "Summertime Girls", which charted at #55 on the Billboard Hot 100. This song had initially appeared as the only studio track on the band's live album, Open Fire, released earlier in the year. The album itself peaked at #91 on the Billboard 200 on December 14, 1985. It was the last album with the original line-up of Meniketti, Alves, Kennemore and Haze, as Haze left the following year.
In All Languages is the first compilation album by English industrial metal band Godflesh, released on 24 July 2001 through Earache Records. It is a double album, and a companion music video DVD was also released in 2001. In All Languages' first disc acts as a greatest hits collection spanning from Godflesh's 1988 self-titled EP to their 1999 studio album, Us and Them. The second disc compiles rare and unreleased tracks.
Florida death metal is a regional scene and stylistic subdivision of death metal. Some of the most significantly pioneering and best-selling death metal acts emerged in Florida, especially in the Tampa Bay area. As a result, Tampa is unofficially known by many death metal fans as the "capital of death metal." The scene coalesced in the mid-1980s through early 1990s around the output of bands such as Death, Nasty Savage, Deicide, Monstrosity, Morbid Angel, Atheist, Obituary, and others. The producer Scott Burns and the studio Morrisound Recording were also instrumental in developing and popularizing the Florida scene. Some bands which originated outside of Florida, such as Malevolent Creation and Cannibal Corpse, relocated to the state in order to participate in this burgeoning scene. The Florida bands featured a more technical approach to the evolving death metal sound, a style which spread beyond the confines of the state, and some were instrumental in creating the progressive death metal subgenre. The death metal genre as a whole, including the Florida scene, declined in popularity in the second half of the 1990s, but many bands within the Florida scene persisted and the scene resurged in popularity in subsequent decades.
Angel Rot were an American stoner metal band based in Manhattan, New York. The original incarnation of the band consisted of bassist Mike Davis, vocalist/guitarist Tom Five and drummer George Berz.
