Ganesh Janardhanan, also known by his stage name VTV Ganesh, is an Indian actor, comedian and film producer. He is best known for his hoarse voice, [1] and his appearances in films featuring Silambarasan. He had made his debut in the Tamil movie Red (2002) directed by Singampuli. He is well-known for his movie Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010) directed by Gautham Menon, which is the reason that he got 'VTV' (short form of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa) prior to his name.

Career

Prior to VTV, he played small roles in films like Red (2002), Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu (2006), Pachaikili Muthucharam (2007) and Vaaranam Aayiram (2008).

Ganesh made his breakthrough with a role in his home production Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya (2010) directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon starring Silambarasan and Trisha Krishnan. His portrayal of Ganesh, the fictional cinematographer of Vinaithaandi Varuvaiya (2010) won plaudits from critics and eventually led to him changing his name by adding a prefix with the initials of the film (VTV). He went on to play a comic role in the anthology film, Vaanam (2011) which he also produced, portraying the character of "Bajanai" Ganesh who assists Cable Raja played Silambarasan. [2] [3] Ganesh also acted in Osthe (2011) featuring Silambarasan in a role as the heroine's father. In 2012, Ganesh played the role of Silambaran’s uncle in Vignesh Shivan’s romantic musical film, Podaa Podi and bagged two nominations for Best Comedian at the Vijay Award and SIIMA Award.[ citation needed ] He was one of the lead characters in Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham (2013). [4] In 2014, he starred, penned, and produced Vincent Selva’s comedy film, Inga Enna Solluthu . [5] He was later cast in few more films including Kappal (2014), Romeo Juliet (2015), Vaalu (2015), Vaaliba Raja (2016), Motta Shiva Ketta Shiva (2017) and Sakka Podu Podu Raja (2017). He also acted in Vijay starrer Beast (2022) and Varisu (2023). [6] [7]

Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa is a 2010 Indian Tamil-language musical romantic drama film written and directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, starring Silambarasan and Trisha. Jointly produced by Elred Kumar, Jayaraman, VTV Ganesh and P. Madan under the banner Escape Artists Motion Pictures and RS Infotainment, the film was distributed by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies. The story was simultaneously shot in Telugu as Ye Maaya Chesave, starring Naga Chaitanya and Samantha, however, with a different cast.

Ye Maaya Chesave is a 2010 Indian Telugu-language romantic drama film written and directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. The film stars Naga Chaitanya and Samantha in her debut as lead. It was produced by Manjula Ghattamaneni under the banner Indira Productions with soundtrack composed by A. R. Rahman. The film featured cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa, editing by Anthony Gonsalves, and dialogue by Umarji Anuradha.

Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa is the soundtrack of the 2010 Tamil romance film of the same name, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. The soundtrack album and background score were composed by A. R. Rahman, collaborating with Menon for the first time. The lyrics for the songs were penned by Menon's usual associate, Thamarai along with Kalyani Menon and Kaithapram, the latter penning the Malayalam lyrics in the album. The album was released on 25 December 2009 in London with several film personalities participating at the grand function. It was the first time that a Tamil film audio release was held in London. It was followed by an audio launch function which was also held in Chennai on 6 January 2010. Sony Music India released the album. The album opened to positive reviews from music critics. The audio was marked as #1 in Asia, in terms of advance bookings. The album was ranked among the best musicals of 2010. A collector's edition of the film was released on 1 December 2010, which featured two unreleased tracks. Vaanam (transl. Sky) is a 2011 Indian Tamil-language action drama film written and directed by Krish. A remake of his own Telugu film Vedam (2010), the film features an ensemble cast of Silambarasan, Bharath, Prakash Raj, Anushka Shetty, Santhanam, Sonia Agarwal and Saranya Ponvannan. The score and soundtrack were composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, while cinematography and editing were handled by Nirav Shah and Anthony, respectively. The film, jointly produced by VTV Ganesh and R. Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, also known as Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu: Part I – The Kindling, is a 2022 Indian Tamil-language neo-noir gangster film directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and written by B. Jeyamohan. It is produced by Ishari K. Ganesh. The film stars Silambarasan and Siddhi Idnani, with Radhika Sarathkumar, Neeraj Madhav and Siddique in supporting roles. The film marked the Tamil debut of both Idnani and Madhav. The film revolves around Muthuveeran (Silambarasan), who departs from Thoothukudi to Mumbai to lead a better life, gets involved in the underworld.

During his career, Indian film director Gautham Vasudev Menon has worked on a number of projects which never progressed beyond the production stage under his direction.
