The temple was built and organised by Guru Sri Vittalananda Saraswathi Maharaj (also known as Sri Vital Baba Ji), and he runs the ashram. Sripada Srivallabha is an Indian guru of the Dattatreya Sampradaya (Lineage) who is regarded as an incarnation of Lord Dattatreya. He is considered one of the first complete Avatars (incarnations) of the deity Dattatreya in Kali Yuga. Vaikhānasam is one of the principal traditions of Hinduism and primarily worships Vishnu as the Supreme God.
