Vanessa Olimpia Kaiser Barents-Von Hohenhagen [1] (born 25 October 1977) is a Chilean columnist and politician serving as a councilwoman of Las Condes.

Biography

She has a Master of Arts in philosophy, a PhD in political sciences and a PhD in philosophy.

She is the CEO of the Libertarian Centre of Studies of Chile (Spanish : Centro de Estudios Libertarios CEL), [4] and a columnist of El Líbero [6] and El Mostrador. [7] [8] Her brothers are Axel Kaiser, a Chilean lawyer and author, and of Johannes Kaiser, a congressman and YouTuber. [9] [3] [10] [11] Kaiser has given a lecture at the Fundación para el Progreso (FPP), where she has denounced liberalism as the "true bailout [of society]". [12]

She holds the Hannah Arendt chair of the Autonomous University of Chile. [13]

She was elected as councilman of Las Condes in 2021. [14] [9] [15]

On 18 October 2021, she was mentioned by Radio Bío-Bío as a possible minister of an eventual government of José Antonio Kast. [16] She signed the Madrid Charter , a document drafted by the far-right Spanish party Vox that describes left-wing groups as enemies of Ibero-America involved in a "criminal project" that are "under the umbrella of the Cuban regime." [17]

General elections were held in Chile on 21 November 2021, including presidential, parliamentary and regional elections. Voters went to the polls to elect the President of the Republic to serve a four-year term, 27 of 50 members of the Senate to serve an eight-year term in the National Congress, all 155 members of the Chamber of Deputies to serve a four-year term in the National Congress, and all 302 members of the regional boards to serve a three-year term. Following an electoral reform in 2015, the Senate increased its membership from 38 to 43 in 2017 and grew to its full size of 50 seats after this election.

Axel Kaiser is a far-right Chilean writer, lawyer, and political scientist known for his work on liberalism and free-market economics. Kaiser is a member of the Mont Pelerin Society and has published articles in Forbes and other publications. He is also the author of several books, including The Tyranny of Equality and The Populist Deception. A 2017 poll by La Segunda ranked him among the most admired public intellectuals in Chile.

Pinochetism is an authoritarian and personalistic political ideology rooted in the military dictatorship led in Chile between 1973 and 1990 by Augusto Pinochet.
