Vanja Perišić (born July 5, 1985, in Split) is a Croatian middle distance runner, who specialized in the 800 metres. [1] Perisic represented Croatia at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she competed for the women's 800 metres. She ran in the third heat of the event, against six other athletes, including Kenya's Pamela Jelimo, who eventually won the gold medal in the final. She finished the race in sixth place by seventy-one hundredths of a second (0.71) behind Mauritius' Annabelle Lascar, with a time of 2:06.82. Perišić, however, failed to advance into the semi-finals, as she placed thirty-fifth overall, and was ranked farther below three mandatory slots for the next round. [2]

On April 29, 2009, Perišić was among the Olympic non-medal winners, who tested positive for Cera, an advanced version of endurance-enhancing hormone EPO. [3] [4]

Choi Hye-Ra is a South Korean swimmer, who specialized in butterfly and individual medley events. She collected four medals in the 200 m butterfly, 200 m individual medley, and the 800 m freestyle relay at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar, and at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China. She also won a silver medal in the same medley distance at the 2011 Summer Universiade in Shenzhen, China, with a time of 2:14.17. She is a resident athlete of Osan Sports Club in Seoul.

Marcela Valeria Britos is a Uruguayan track and field athlete, who specialized in middle distance running. She represented Uruguay at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, and competed in the women's 800 metres. She ran in the third heat of the event, against six other athletes, including Kenya's Pamela Jelimo, who eventually became an Olympic champion in the final. Britos finished the race in last place, with a time of 2:08.98, but was upgraded to sixth position in this heat, when Croatia's Vanja Perišić had been disqualified for failing the doping test.

At the 2016 Summer Olympics, da Graça competed in the Women's 1500 metres, but finished 14th, last in her heat, with a time of 4:38.86, failing to advance to the semifinals.

Dimitra Dova is a Greek sprinter, who specialized in the 400 metres. She won the gold medal for her category at the 2005 Mediterranean Games in Almería, Spain, with a time of 52.67 seconds, defeating her compatriot Phara Anacharsis by three hundredths of a second (0.03).

She finished the race in last place by fifteen seconds behind Australia's Madeleine Pape, with her personal and seasonal best time of 2:18.41. Awadallah, however, failed to advance into the semi-finals, as she placed thirty-seventh overall, and was ranked farther below three mandatory slots for the next round. She was eventually upgraded to a higher overall position, when Croatia's Vanja Perišić had been disqualified for failing the doping test.

Élodie Guégan is a French middle distance runner, who specialized in the 800 metres. She won two medals, silver and bronze, for the 800 metres at the 2005 European Athletics U23 Championships in Erfurt, Germany, and at the 2007 European Athletics U23 Championships in Debrecen, Hungary. She also set a personal best time of 1:58.93 by finishing fifth at the 2008 ÅF Golden League in Saint-Denis, Paris.

Anna Rostkowska is a Polish middle-distance runner, who specialized in the 800 metres. She won a gold medal for the 800 metres at the 2001 European Athletics U23 Championships in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and silver at the 2003 Summer Universiade in Jeju City, South Korea. She also set a personal best time of 1:58.72 by finishing fourth at the 2008 ÅF Golden League in Saint-Denis, Paris.

Tsholofelo Thipe is a South African sprinter, who specialized in the 400 metres. She set a personal best time of 51.15 seconds by winning the 400 metres event at the 2009 South African Championships in Stellenbosch. She was born in Rustenburg, North West Province.

Aunese Curreen is a Samoan middle-distance runner, who specialized in the 800 metres. He is currently a member of the North Harbour Bays Athletics Club in Auckland, New Zealand.

María do Carmo Sánchez Tavares de Miranda is a Portuguese middle-distance runner, who specialized in the 800 metres. At age thirty-four, Tavares made her official debut for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she competed in the women's 800 metres. She ran in the sixth and final heat against six other athletes, including Kenya's Janeth Jepkosgei Busienei, who eventually won the silver medal in the final. She finished the race in sixth place by more than a second behind Italy's Elisa Cusma Piccione, with a time of 2:01.91. Tavares, however, failed to advance into the semi-finals, as she placed twenty-first overall, and was ranked farther below three mandatory slots for the next round.

Alissa Kallinikou is a Cypriot sprinter, who specialized in the 400 metres. She set a personal best time of 52.05 seconds, by winning the women's 400 metres at the 2008 Greek National Championships in Athens, Greece, earning her a spot on the Cypriot team for the Olympics.
