Volume Up is the third extended play by South Korean girl group 4Minute. It was released by Cube Entertainment and distributed by Universal Music on April 9, 2012.

Release

4Minute originally scheduled their EP release for February 2012, [1] but this date was subsequently delayed several times. Volume Up was finally released on April 9, 2012. [2] The premiere of the music video for the title song took place on the same day. [3]

Promotion

The group promoted the title track "Volume Up" (as well as the track "Dream Racer") on several music shows. Between April 12 and 15, 2012, they appeared onstage at music shows, including Mnet's M! Countdown , [4] KBS's Music Bank , [5] MBC's Show! Music Core [6] and SBS's Inkigayo . [7]

Music video

The video features a gothic set reminiscent of a Dark-Age castle. It consists of several tightly-edited shots of the group, sometimes with dancers and sometimes with animals in the background, combined with shots of the ominous-looking interior architecture. [8] This music video was released on April 9, 2012. [9]

Commercial performance

Volume Up debuted at number 7 on the Gaon Album Chart for the week ending April 14, 2012. [10] In its third week, the EP peaked at number 1. [11] It was the fourth best-selling album in April 2012 with 42,060 copies sold. [12] The album sold 56,174 copies in 2012. [13]

The song was written and produced by Seo Jae-woo, Big Ssancho, and Son Young-jin, with co–writing from group member Hyuna. A hip hop and dance song with trap influences, it sees the group returning to their signature hip hop indebted sound.

Crazy is the sixth extended play (EP) by South Korean girl group 4Minute. It was released on February 9, 2015, by Cube Entertainment and distributed by Universal Music Group. It was the group's first offering in 11 months since the release of 4Minute World (2014). The EP marked a shift towards a bolder concept and fresh direction for the group and contains six songs. Musically, the album is characterized by the group's signature hip hop sound, while also encompassing several other genres including, trap, dance, Europop, funk, disco and rock.

SM Station is a digital music project by South Korean record label SM Entertainment. It undertook to release one digital single every Friday starting from February 3, 2016.

Love Generation is the third extended play by South Korean girl group DIA. It was digitally released on August 22, 2017, by MBK Entertainment and distributed by Interpark. Timeabout is the first extended play by Japanese musician Yukika Teramoto, released on April 7, 2021, by Ubuntu Entertainment and distributed by YG Plus. It is her first release under Ubuntu following her departure from Estimate Entertainment in November 2020. Released eight months after her debut album Soul Lady, the EP is also influenced by Japanese city pop and is characterized by its heavy use of retro synthesizers, bass guitar and disco-inspired percussion. It is intended to be the first entry of a "Time" trilogy.
