WMFU (90.1 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a Variety format, licensed to Mount Hope, New York, United States. The station is owned by Auricle Communications.
Since 1996, WMFU has been a repeater station of WFMU, a radio station that is based in Jersey City, New Jersey, after Auricle (the owners of WFMU) received the station as a donation. [2] [3]
The station went on the air as WEXX on April 3, 1990. On July 9, 1990, the station changed its call sign to WDHZ, again on September 3, 1990, to WXHD, and on May 10, 2009, to the current WMFU. [4]
WFMU is a listener-supported, independent community radio station licensed to East Orange, New Jersey. Since 1998, it has been headquartered in Jersey City, New Jersey. It broadcasts in northeast New Jersey at 91.1 MHz FM, to New York City and Rockland County via a repeater at 91.9 FM, and in the Hudson Valley, the Lower Catskills, western New Jersey, and eastern Pennsylvania from Mount Hope, New York at 90.1 via the repeater station WMFU. It is the longest-running free-form radio station in the U.S. The station's main terrestrial transmitter is located in West Orange, New Jersey.
WPRB is an FM radio station licensed to Princeton, New Jersey, and owned by Princeton Broadcasting Service, Inc. It broadcasts a freeform radio format, including shoegaze, slowcore, noise music, harsh noise wall, plunderphonics, illbient, jazz, electronic, folk, reggae, ska, metal, world, soul, rap, blues, and rock.
