Western Texas College (WTC) is a public community college in Snyder, Texas. It was established in 1969 and has two downtown Snyder locations in addition to the main campus. With an enrollment around 2,300, Western Texas College has an extensive distance learning department, provides dual-credit courses to 43 area high schools, and provides college-level coursework to inmates in three prisons in the West Texas area.
As defined by the Texas Legislature, the official Western Texas College service area encompasses Borden, Dickens, Fisher, Jones, Kent, Mitchell, Nolan, Runnels, Scurry, and Stonewall Counties. [1]
Western Texas College offers the Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree, the Associate of Science (A.S.) degree, the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree, and the Associate of Arts in Teaching (A.A.T.) degree.
Western Texas College is part of the Western Junior College Athletic Conference and the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 5. Competing athletic teams include: [2]
Western Texas College assumed ownership and operations of the Scurry County Coliseum in 2008. Renamed "The Coliseum", [3] the 3,400-seat arena received a facelift thanks to a $500,000 donation from wind energy company, Invenergy. In addition to all college basketball home games played on Invenergy Court, The Coliseum is host to many annual events, including the West Texas Western Swing Festival held every year in June. [4]
Home of the Lady Westerners softball team, United Field is also host to tournaments for high schools and colleges.
Westerner Field is home to the Westerner baseball squad and local and regional baseball tournaments, including the annual Snyder High School tournament. The Westerners had their first winning season in the '10-'11 year, posting a 37–17 record.
Weaver Field, the WTC Soccer Complex, includes a full-sized regulation soccer pitch and three practice fields. Plans include adding a 400-meter track to the complex. In addition to home games for the WTC men's and women's soccer teams, the field hosts many local soccer events for Snyder schools.
The WTC campus expanded by nearly 100 acres after Texas clothing and boot magnate James Cavender donated property adjacent to the campus. This property currently houses the WTC Soccer Complex, Cavender Energy field lab, and a rugged outdoor cross country track used for local and regional cross country track events.
Hilbert College is a private Franciscan college in Hamburg, New York. The college is named after Mother Colette Hilbert of the Franciscan Sisters of Saint Joseph, who founded the school in 1957 to train teachers. Hilbert College enrolls approximately 800 students and grants both undergraduate and master's degrees.
The Florida State Seminoles are the athletic teams representing Florida State University located in Tallahassee, Florida. The Texas State Bobcats are the sports teams that represent Texas State University. Currently, they compete in the Sun Belt Conference in NCAA Division I. The Bobcat has been the mascot of Texas State University since 1921, when the university adopted the name from the recommendation of a committee formed to raise school spirit. Though considerably smaller than mountain lions, bobcats are known for their stubborn fierceness and great courage. The football squad used the bobcat for the first time in 1921 and went undefeated with a 7–0 season. Texas State had several officially recognized live bobcat mascots until the 1970s. In 1964, the Texas State Bobcat was given the official name of "Boko" by Beth Greenlees, a sophomore from Luling, Texas, who beat out about 100 other students in a "Name the Bobcat" contest. Her winning submission earned her a $5 prize and the honor of being the person who named the Texas State mascot. Boko has twice been named “USA National Champion” mascot. Texas State had no official fight song until 1961, when Paul Yoder was commissioned to compose "Go Bobcats." The song is the rousing "call to arms" for all Texas State athletic games and competition.
The Lamar Cardinals and Lady Cardinals refers to the college athletics teams of Lamar University, in Beaumont, Texas. The Cardinals and Lady Cardinals teams compete in seventeen NCAA Division I sports as a member of the Southland Conference. The Cardinals rejoined the Southland after spending the 2021–22 athletic year in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).

The Petersen Sports Complex (PSC) is a 12.32-acre (4.99 ha) multi-sport athletic facility on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It houses Charles L. Cost Field, Vartabedian Field, and Ambrose Urbanic Field, the respective home practice and competition venues of the university's NCAA Division I varsity athletic baseball, softball, and men's and women's soccer teams.
