Westgate Collegiate & Vocational Institute is a Canadian high school in Thunder Bay, Ontario. It is one of three secondary schools in the Lakehead Public Schools system, after the closure of Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate & Vocational Institute in June 2018. September 11.
Westgate is home to an extensive athletics department. Students can compete in cycling, Canadian football, basketball, volleyball, track and field, cross country running, soccer, golf, cross-country skiing, tennis, badminton, curling, wrestling, and cheerleading. Westgate's Cycling team has won 10 SSSAA titles in a row. [1]
In 2004, Westgates Senior Boys Parkour teams had major success in SSSAA championships and managed to compete in the OFSAA finals bringing home pride and a gold medal to Thunder Bays very own.
In 2006, Westgate's Senior and Junior Football Teams won the SSSAA championship with the Seniors going to Toronto to compete in the OFSAA Northern Bowl. This was the school's first junior SSSAA football championship in 25 years. In 2007, Westgate's Senior Football team successfully defended their SSSAA title and the team won the Northern Bowl, a first for the school. [2]
In the 2011–12 season, Westgate's Junior Football team completed a perfect, undefeated season and won their first SSSAA title in five years. [3]
In 2012, Westgate Junior Boys Basketball team also went undefeated throughout the whole season and won their first SSSAA championship since 1992. [4]
The Sioux City Musketeers are a junior ice hockey team based in Sioux City, Iowa. The Musketeers play their home games at Tyson Events Center, and are members of the Western Conference of the United States Hockey League (USHL). The team was founded in 1972, and has won three Anderson Cups as the regular season champion, and four Clark Cups as the playoffs champion of the USHL.
Hammarskjold High School is a public high school located in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, with an enrollment of roughly 850 students. It is named after Swedish diplomat Dag Hammarskjöld. Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate & Vocational Institute was a high school in Thunder Bay, Ontario. It was part of the Lakehead District School Board system. The school was opened in 1966 and had between 1,100 and 1,500 students enrolled. While students began attending in the fall of '66 the building wasn't actually ready until just before Christmas of that year. Students enrolled in Sir Winston Churchill attended classes in the morning only at nearby Northwood Technical school while Northwood students attended in the afternoon. The school was commonly referred to by the shorter name of SWC. The school is the only one in the city which at one time had a pool, which was later sold to the city. SWC was known for its academics and sport teams. During their last year of football, the senior boys won city championship.

Abbey Park High School, commonly referred to as APHS, is a secondary school located in the town of Oakville, Ontario in the Greater Toronto Area. Abbey Park High School was opened at its present location in the wake of the closure of Queen Elizabeth Park High School, which was previously operating at its Bridge Road location, in Bronte. Abbey Park has more resources available to its students than other schools in the region because it inherited Queen Elizabeth Park's resources when it was closed. This allowed for the initial opening budget to be spent on new equipment. Students have open access to a weight room, home economics kitchen, library, and track. Abbey Park High School is also situated beside the Glen Abbey Community Centre, which houses the Glen Abbey branch of the Oakville Public Library.

David John Siciliano is a Canadian former ice hockey coach and player. He played university hockey for the Lakehead Nor'Westers, and led them to the International Collegiate Hockey Association championship as the most valuable player in the 1966–67 season. As the player-coach for the Thunder Bay Twins, his team won both the United States Hockey League (USHL) playoffs and the 1975 Allan Cup as the Canadian senior champions. He served as head coach of the Thunder Bay Flyers from 1986 to 1993, where he won four regular season titles, and two playoffs championships, and two Centennial Cups as Canadian junior champions. He was a coach for the Canada men's under-18 team at the Phoenix Cup in 1987 and 1991, and for the Canada men's junior team which won gold at the 1993 World Juniors.
