White Rose School System, founded in 1991, is a private high school located in Faisalabad, Pakistan. It provides education to boys and girls until matriculation. It provides preschool education, primary education, secondary education. Its central campus is located in Gulistan Colony, and eight other satellite campuses are located in different towns of the city.

When the C.E.O. Zahid Mehmood came from England to Pakistan in 1990, he decided to open a private school in Faisalabad to promote education. In 1991, he opened the school and gave the name White Rose School System. White Rose School is ranked in top ten schools of Faisalabad. It has nine campuses in Faisalabad, with main campus in Gulistan Colony, and satellite campuses in different towns of the city. [1]

Facilities

The school has a large library with over 20,000 books that are accessible to the students throughout school hours. There are separate science laboratories for Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The science laboratories are utilised by students of class 9–12 to carry out practical work. The school has three computer laboratories where students from classes 1 through 10 are made proficient in computers. There is a cafeteria run by the Interact Club of the school for use by both faculty and students. For sports activities the school has a large sports field at the rear, two Table tennis courts and a separate playground for the students of junior school.

Student office-bearers

A School Captain and two Vice-captains are selected from amongst the students of class 10 by the Principal upon recommendation by the faculty. Additionally, House Captains and Vice-captains (two for each house) are selected by the House-mistresses. A Games Captain and a Games Vice-captain are also selected to manage the sports activities of the house. A team of prefects is also selected from each house.

Admissions

The admission notice for Junior kindergarten is put up in January. For Senior kindergarten to class 8, the notice is put up in April. During the admission procedure, preference is given to siblings of former students, Muslims and relatives of teachers. An admission test and an interview of each candidate is conducted as a part of the admission process.

School life

Motto, anthem and school hymn

The school's motto is 'Learn to Serve'. The National Anthem of Pakistan is sung during the morning assembly along with the reciting of the Holy Qur'an and the national school song "Lab Pe Aati Hai Dua".

House system

Students from each grade are sorted in four houses which are named after the political leaders who fought for the independence of Pakistan. All houses participate in the activities and competitions of the school.

School uniform

Boys from class 1 through class 8 wear grey shorts with white shirts and boys of class 9 and 10 wear grey trousers with white shirts. The rest of the boy's uniform consists of a half-sleeved white shirt, a blue and grey tie with school badge, black leather belt, white socks and black leather laced shoes. The uniform for girls consists of a grey tunic, white shirt and school badge, blue sash, white socks and black leather shoes with buckles.

Culture

White Rose is a cosmopolitan school. The school imparts Islamic values to the children. The Milad ceremony is recited every year. A sports meet and a farewell party for students who are passing out of the institution are also held annually.

Scholarships and Curriculum

International Scholarship

In 2011 Japan government offered scholarship to White Rose School students to participate in Japan SAARC Youth Exchange Program in Tokyo. [2]

Extracurricular activities

Emphasis is placed on extracurricular activities and there are student-led clubs on campus, including the Nature Club, Interact Club, Science Club, Scouts and Guides, and Scottish Junior Rifle Club. Inter-house debates, elocution, PowerPoint presentation competitions, essay writing competitions, dramatics and sporting competitions are also a part of the cultural lives of the older students. It has also won many other competitions including Sparco and USAID etc. [3] [4]
